I have a stock 2011 G37 Sedan Journey. My cats are rattling and I'm looking to buy new ones. I'm looking into some direct fit high flow cats? Any recommendations? Also, would like some that wouldn't cause any sensors or my CEL to go off?

I have FIRHFC and I'd highly recommend it, i also have no CEL. It does take a while to receive it though.

It depends on how much noise you're looking for. I didn't want mine to be too loud, so I got a resonated version.

Below is what Rochester told me a while ago when i got my cats. He had it with the stock exhaust for awhile. Hope it helps. As for the o2 bungs, i didn't get any extras.

"The standard FI catback for the Sedan uses 2.25" piping, unless you upgrade to 2.5" on request. Whereas the Motordyne catback uses 2.5" pipes, period... right?

So if you were to look at this according to the catback you're matching to, get the cats with a 2.5" connector. However, it doesn't really matter, because they use the same flange bolt specs. And as long as you're going from narrow to wide, all should be right with the world. Fitment isn't really the issue.

My cats are 2.25" at the flange, matched up with 2.5" pipes. But I had the cats installed first, a full year before deciding on the catback. If I had known for sure what I was going to get on a later mod, or really thought harder about this, I probably would have asked FI to use 2.5" piping in the cats.

im having trouble finding exhaust and coil overs for my 2012 g37xs sedan. it seems to be that no one makes anything for an all wheel drive sedan so if anyone could help me out with any info on this that would be great.

Quick answer is ARK exhaust for big budget big sound, stillen for mid budget and lots of drone, top speed for low budget deep, but not as loud sound, I think Tanabe axelback works too. Coils, there are a bunch, but BC coils with upgraded swift springs is a good choice.

Don't be lazy, just read through this thread, plenty of g37x options.

Hey guys, awhile back I posted about my custom exhaust that sounded absolutely awful. Originally, I brought it to a local exhaust shop and let them take a swing at making the stock exhaust sound a bit more throaty, without giving them any specifics. This was a bad idea and they ended up botching my exhaust. They installed an x-pipe, replaced the stock resonators with what looks to be a very small turbo muffler, then replaced the stock mufflers with turbo mufflers (all 2.25" piping as well).

The mufflers are low quality and the sound that the setup emitted was god awful, so I had them replace the x-pipe with a Magnaflow resonated x-pipe, which cleaned up the sound quite a bit - it still sounds weak though.

So I've been riding around with the Magnaflow resonated x-pipe, xsmall turbo muffler/resonator, and turbo mufflers for the last 6 months and I'm ready to spend a few hundred bucks on improving the sound. My larger plan is to dish out for a nice CBE, but I can't swing that now. My plans now are to get some Vibrant resonators to replace that weird xsmall turbo muffler, then get some nice Magnaflow mufflers (11255) to replace the cheapy turbos (I want to keep the 2.25" piping and resonated x-pipe).

Like I said, I'm just looking for a small win here until I purchase a nice CBE. Any ideas on what I can do to get that throatiness without drone, rasp, or waking up the neighbors? Thanks ahead.

I'm not exactly sure what your goal is. Is this a learning experience? Are you just having fun figuring out how different parts affect the sound? Cause that's what it seems like to me. A grand experiment. If that's what you're trying to accomplish, it sounds like a very cool learning experience. You'll probably know a lot more about how different parts affect the sound.

It just sucks since you don't do install yourself, you're paying for labor every time you make a change. I vaguely remember last time you said you were about $500-600 in; just remember about half the cost of a premium CBE.

Do you have an overall budget you're working with?

BTW have you considered Topspeed? I was going to get that as my cheap option. When I did my research, the G/Z community seem to think it's the best bang for buck.
