Everyone has to start somewhere. At least he shared what he did. I'm sure he is proud of it regardless, which isn't that the point? He's happy with the result even if it doesn't look pretty. It works.

Well said, Boomer.

Bambico, please show more kindness here on the forum. If you can't do that, then at the very least be constructive with your criticisms.

If it works, it works...

Did my own welding when I Frankensteined my exhaust together. Ugliest thing you'd ever lay your eyes on; but I'm not a pro welder either. Still netted an impressive NA whp number @ 1/2 cost of a name brand system and sounded great.

It's under the car anyway, who cares if it doesn't look good? As long as it's functional and saves money

I'm going to be modifying my Invidia Q300 soon to make it function better. I have 2.5" cats and the Q300 is 2.25", so I've ordered a couple 2.5" flanges and some pipe reducers from 2.5" to 2.25" and I'm gonna have it welded to replace the Q300's 2.25" flange. Should help smooth out the exhaust flow and prevent any leaks because I really don't like how it currently connects with a 2.5" cat flange to the 2.25" catback.

I know this would make it harder to sell the exhaust but I have no plans to ever change it now. I was considering a 2.5" exhaust but just decided to stick with what I've got and improve it. I'm also going to be testing twin loop mufflers instead of the chambered Q300 mufflers on a dyno to see if there's gains, and if I can bear the sound. If it's too loud, I'll swap back and sell the mufflers at a loss.

I don't unfortunately and the car has been sold. Took me forever to get the pie cuts right and didn't take pics as I was putting it together. Was a combo of TopSpeed Y-Back, Ebay dual 2.5 inlets to 3 collector Y pipe, Vibrant resonators welded to the Y pipe and up to Circuit werks test pipes.

Thank you for kind words It is Mig not TIG. Welded with stainless wire and tri-mix gas so it will not rust. Fully functional.
If i cant find specific stuff to buy, i just build it.
For example last week was building/ modifying my Acura MDX. removed failed magnaflow cats, installed test pipes. Added high quality GESI hi-flow cat ($400) further down the line on 3 inch exhaust section.
I have Berks on Infiniti and i am on 2nd set already. there will be no 3rd for sure. Will be doing same thing, will be adding expensive GESI hi-flow cat right after y pipe merge.
Some more ugly welds on MDX, this time tig:

KEEP BUILDING MY FRIENDS!

No kidding - I had the exact same setup and I had that hiss like crazy. It's no biggie to me but that's super interesting.

I just switched from the Invidia to the Speed Culture Studios catback. I can post some clips if anyone's interested.

Actually, if he was using flux-cored wire in a spool mig, those are pretty decent (lack of shielding gas makes the welds ugly). But yeah - the test isn't whether it is shiny, but whether it breaks apart when you toss it in the street.

These mufflers are 2.5" inlet. Does that mean they cannot be bolted in to replace oem mufflers on the sedan?
