Trunk hitting body

I just bought a 2012 certified g37 sedan and noticed the other day the paint is chipped on the area pictured below. It appears the trunk is hitting the body of the car. I saw a tsb for the trunk but it was for the trunk hitting the tail lights

Has anyone had this problem and did you find a solution?

There is a TSB out for this. Take it to the dealer. That should have been fixed by the dealer before you bought it. If it has any remaining full warranty they will cover it, if not, you may have to have a bit of jostle with them to cover it.

The trunk struts need to be adjusted.

Do you have that TSB? The only one i saw was for the trunk hitting the tail lights not the body.

My used car had the same but was hitting lights too. I used touch up paint and adjusted the stops on the trunk and remember not to slam the crap out of it. Problem solved.

It's the same TSB as the trunk one you saw, I didn't see you had posted about this but t already. It is in the same place as the TSB though so I'd assume it's the same issue.

Yeah it only mentioned the area by the lights, but i think that was also caused by the edge of the tail lights being to high.

Mine just got repainted under warranty a few weeks ago for doing this. No idea about TSB or anything.

This thread prompted me to check mine. Thankfully no damage. I'm guessing this results from improperly adjusted bumpers that came the trunk to slam into that part of the fender when slammed shut?

Yeah probably, although my stoppers are both fully extended.

Both my stoppers are fully extended and it makes the trunk hard to close. Should I adjust the position of the striker/latch?

You may be able to adjust the stops on the struts themselves. I think the TSB has some info on it.
