Sorry if this is a repeat post, I tried searching the site for relevant threads dedicated to this but couldn't. Anyway for those who have tinted their cars what was the total price paid? What tint % did you use and what manufacturer was it? Are there any of you who did it yourself and if so what did you use and do you recommend it? For those who are in North Carolina and live in the triangle are there any local shops you would recommend?

Will post pictures when I get the time. I loved it. Gave me that privacy but still able to see a tad in (have stone interior) during sunny Days. Want it to look lighter, open sun roof. If you have a stone interior, 20% looks a lot lighter than what it does on a black interior.

Correct. I don't step foot in his car at night time. Yet alone, he's one of those cruising during the daytime but super speeder at night haha. Noooo thank you.
As for the 5% for the back 3 and people say you can't see out of it at night, you can.. If there's lights on the road. Pretty much you can see the cars headlights behind you but you won't be able to make out what car it is.
The hardest part about 5% is backing up parking at night. But thankfully we have a backup camera

If you have defogging strips on the rear window (which we do), the rear-window tint can't be flat against those strips. Consequently, the curvature of the tint over those strips causes a refraction effect which you'll see in your rear-view mirror as a sparkly glare of horizontal lines.
It's not pleasant, and there's nothing you can do about it except compromise.

Another issue to be aware of before you get the car tinted is the 3rd brake light. Either remove it first before the tint, or have the shop cut the tint to fit around it. Mine is cut out, and honestly I wish it was otherwise. Oh well.
I suspect there's a legal aspect to this, but likely your choice on how to proceed, since in many states certain applications of window tint is illegal more often than not.

I don't think it matters if you tint over the third brake light. The shop that did mine was able to get the tint behind the brake light - any good shop should. It looks much better than having a stupid cutout.
