Keyfob issue

I changed out my battery on my key fob, now it only works with the valet key out of it but when put back it it acts like its dead. Anyone know what my issue could be?

This is strange...

I would split open the key fob and double check the battery placement and polarity. The key fob should function the same way when the mechanical key is inserted or removed.

You may want to try another new battery.

Strange indeed, the battery was new, it works fine with the key out, its not even in the same area as the battery and circuit board, its underneath in a plastic compartment below the circuit board. Makes no sense at all. I will try another battery but I tested it and it has a full 3 volts.

I know this thread is a little stale, but I have the exact same problem with one of my fobs so I thought I'd give this forum a shot. Replaced the battery again but that didn't help. Battery tests okay and works if I put in my 2nd fob that one works fine. Anyone have a suggestion?

the fob seems to like only particular batteries i dont know why. i suggest replace it with the exact one that came out of the keyfob while it was working. i experienced this a few months back.

Ugh. I have this same issue. I just replaced the fob battery with a duracell CR2032.

Anyone find a fix for this?

I just replaced mine with an Energizer battery and it's been working fine.

i can post a pic later but i do recall the batteries having different textures on the top. i would assume the working batt has a smooth glass finish on the top vs a textured finish.

I rotated the Duracell battery 180 degrees and now it works perfect. Stupid thing...
