Personally, I wouldn't go any darker than 35% front. The staggered tint (heh, is that the term for it?) is popular, but I like a bit more of a uniform look.

Sorry, I know it's not a G but it might help to see. This is 35% front & rear, the car had black interior:

By the way, congrats on the new car OP!

In IL, 35% all round is whats legal for sedans.

I have red interior so its neither beige or black.

I got the Formula 1 Ceramics and I love the charcoal color.

Today, I got my Subaru Forester tinted with Suntek 35% all round and it seems much lighter than the G37. Being that the G37 has smaller windows, I think the tints look darker. Or maybe because they are slightly tinted from the factory, as previous post stated.

Even though I wanted 18%, I ended up with whatever was legal, as to not create headaches or issues later.

I would recommend checking your local laws and see whats ok.

This is a very good point, as the local laws vary by state. I know when I lived in Ohio the max for the front two windows was 35%, but the rear windows could be done darker. Here in California you can tint the rear windows as dark as you want, but it is illegal to have any tint on the front windows at all, so that is done at your own risk. If pulled over they will issue a "fix-it-ticket" which requires you have the tint pulled off and then have the car inspected to prove that it was done... then most will head right back to the tint shop to have then retinted.

Agreed. You can go to tintlaws.com to look up the statutes for your particular state. In my case (PA) NO tint is allowed on any windows over and above what comes from the factory. Yes, yes, I am a scofflaw. The way I see it, if a cop wants to pull you over, he is going to pull you over tint be damned.

I believe prior to 2015/16, you had to allow for 70% light penetration for front side windows. However, that has now changed to more than 50% light penetration!

Ohio 2015/2016 Tint Laws
Tint darkness for sedans:

Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 5 inches of the windshield.

Front Side windows: Must allow more than 50% of light in.

Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used.

Rear Window: Any darkness can be used.

Mine had fairly dark tint all around from the previous owner when i bought it. Had the dealership remove the front tints when i bought it. Dark front tints just kill your visibility and irk the cops. Technically my rears aren't legal here in PA, but i've never seen a cop stop someone for just rear tints. They just care that they can see the driver when they walk up. I also think there's an assumption that if you have dark tints up front you're probably behind the wheel smoking a bowl.

Great information. I believe the OP in from Illinois. Wonder if anyone has the current laws for his state?
