Recirulate/Fresh Air button will not go to "Auto". What gives?

I have a 2013 G37x with tech package (reason I mention this is because it has the special filtration system).

I press the recirculate/fresh air button and it will not go to automatic, it keeps circulating to recirculate and then back to fresh air and back to recirculate again. It will not actually go to the automatic setting, is something wrong?

You can select auto by pressing the left ****, but ultimately the recirculation/fresh air button is independent of the automatic function.

i would read the owners manual to learn the functions and operations of the hvac system. your question is vague and sounds odd in context especially, "it keeps circulating to recirculate and then back to fresh air and back to recirculate again."

I did check the owners manual, thats why i am seeing if anyone else had this issue. If I press the button it skips the auto function and just goes back and forth between recirculate and fresh air.

Don't ever touch the button and it will be in auto mode. The moment you touch the button it gets knocked out of auto mode.

The only way to get it back into auto mode is to press the AUTO hvac **** that controls the temperature setting on the left

Shouldn't the auto light be lit if its in auto mode?
I seem to remember mine being lit, but now have the same issue as the OP, holding the auto side of the switch for 2 seconds as per the manual does nothing.

Yes, it is supposed to be lit if in auto mode, and I too noticed it was not lit. Prior if I pressed on the recirculate button, it would go through three settings which were recirculate, fresh-air, and then auto recirculate (the setting names were being shown on the Navigation screen as I pressed the button. Now when I press the button it only scrolls through recirculate and fresh-air, while skipping the auto recirculate setting.

When I read "qmantran" which stated "Don't ever touch the button and it will be in auto mode. The moment you touch the button it gets knocked out of auto mode." Since I read that I have not touched the button and when I start the car, after 15-20 seconds it automatically goes to automatic mode and I just leave it that way.

I still believe something is wrong as I cannot imagine that touching the button to manually change the setting would then prevent us from going back to auto mode with pressing it again.

If you press the "Status" button the nav screen will display the current climate control setting. If the system is in AUTO the screen will say so. Holding the recirc button till its light blinks twice usually returns that specific function to automatic but it should not affect the climate control system in any way, as in the AUTO status light should not turn off.

There is two different auto status, one is the climate control auto status and there is also a automatic function for the recirculate/fresh air function
