Removing it is easy if you have a proper stitch cutter, putting the new one on is very difficult. Took a few days of working on it a few hours each day. You have to stretch the leather really tight to make it look and feel nice and also make sure the stitches are going straight and not twisting. Then I used a steamer machine to shrink and fit the leather and get rid of any wrinkles.

 

That's what I was afraid of. That sounds awful, but probably something you could do while watching tv.

 

Maybe, maybe not. So far... it's a keeper. If someday I find myself with a big hole burning in my wallet, I'll do it all over again. To be honest, I don't know what I'll be thinking down the road. Still barely driving the car, because Winter.

That was an intentional design consideration, like the seats.

 

I guess that makes sense. I did mine completely perforated to match the shift boot. I probably knew subconsciously that the front seats would eventually come out.

Speaking of seats, I find it odd that the front seats and steering wheel have white stitching, but the doors and rear seats have black stitching. Is white thread a lot more expensive or something?

 

Yeah its not that bad, just tedious. Its worth it though. I did the wheel on my G too.

 

I think Infiniti is just cheap

Seats and wheel are S specific. They didn't follow through and make separate rear seats and door inserts.

 

Whatever "Infiniti" is or is intended to be, I think there's more "Nissan" in the G than most would like to admit.

Door inserts... HUGE expanse of vinyl on each door. I hate it, but it's too big of a job to go leather here. Even the inserts on my wife's Subby are leather, dammit.

Has anyone done a steering wheel in suede/alcantara or owned a car with that type of cover. It looks cool, feels cool and I think I could do track days without gloves better than a regular leather wheel, but how do you clean it?

 

The perforation pattern on our seats is at a 45° orientation, making the "line" a diagonal one between the perforations. Looking at pictures of other people's armrest, it seems that theme continues there (except for mine, which is fckd up).

I was noticing my seats today with this in mind, and then looking at my armrest thinking... WTF man?

Oh well. Still better than the OEM vinyl, by far.

 

Just keep repeating that before you get into the car.
