Just Crashed my G :( :( :( Quick question?

So not only have I had a heart attack and stroke within the last 3 weeks, I can now add crashing my G! (I'm 32... this is ridiculous! ) Anyways, I'm assuming my car will get totalled but as you guys know I have invested some money that I hope I can recoup! My issue is that my title still has a lien as I still have a loan and I don't know how this process works, never had an accident before! How can I go about getting salvage ownership of the cat after ,assuming, its totalled? I live in NYS and I guess once it's totalled you cannot get any parts off the car unless you can get salvage ownership of the car, but apparently that's difficult to do with a line holder on the title... anyone have advice/experience on this? I'm waiting for an insurance adjuster to call me and want to be prepared if possible and take the best steps possible. I can have the car towed to my brother in laws and take the parts off there no.problem just need to know legalities etc.... any help is always appreciated G fam!

all I have experience with is after the car is evaluated and is declared a total loss. in my case my car was financed and insured with the same credit union, the car was a total loss and after the loan was paid out the remainder went to my account. I still did have to pay the deductible. Now as for your ability to get the car after that process I have no clue. crappy to hear of your misfortunes and hope life turns a bright leaf over soon for you.

Ouch... it will be a total for sure.

My other car was totaled only a few weeks ago. Go to where it's towed and pull off your mods before they value the car / damage and make you a payout offer.

Yeah once you give them the title and they pay out you can't take anything off.
For now you still own the car.

Sorry to hear that and hope everything goes better for you soon, you should ask the row yard if you can go and get the parts off and see if they let you if not you will probably have to take the car out and take it somewhere that you can store it, I'm sure you can take it since the registration is under your name

What if I let them total it and just buy it salvaged is that possible? I can't get there with a jack to get all the parts I want and don't have access to my brother in laws to get it towed there right now...

First thing you should do is just go over there and ask if you can take the stuff off. They shouldn't care if you do. That's pretty much what I did and they allowed me to take off my mods.

I wouldn't buy the salvage because you will likely lose money on that. Just try to get your mods off from it.

Damn my condolences man.

I would imagine you should be able to get whatever you want from the car within reason. At the momen the car is still yours, until the insurance payment is received the car and parts are still yours.

I'm guess the parts haven't been insured so you should have every right to collect them since they won't pay you out for them. Just my 2c.

To me it doesn't look to much like a total loss, but thats only if they dont declare the airbags deploying should be considered to much to replace on top of the cosmetic damage you have on the car. Also if they find there is frame damage to add on top of the present damage they may try to total it out to. If you want to keep the car and willing to invest the time. I would either a file the insurance claim, but find someone you know to fix the car so if they say its should be totaled but the person you take it to knows it can be fixed, and if they are nice they should be able to talk your insurance company into letting them fix it. If you dont want to go that route or know someone you can trust to fix your whip(because if you let your insurance company pick someone to fix it( you will be at their mercy and possibly have your whip fixed for the cheap if they dont decide to total it, which aint good at all) you can buy the vehicle back from your insurance company but if they declare it a savage vehicle you will have to get the vehicle registered with a savage title. Which will effect the resale of your vehicle way worse than a normal accident title. Unless you dont ever plan on selling your car you may not worry about it.

If i was you I would try to fix it since you have a loan on it especially if there if there is not frame damage. Unless if the insurance company totals it out and plans to at least pay you enough money for your loan and if your luckily have some left over to get a new whip. Hope this helps and sorry about your whip accidents are no fun trust me.

Thanks for the further advice fellas, adjuster called they won't be looking at it till tomorrow. Called the tow place and they said typically geico (my insurance company) after a total doesn't have a problem with people pulling parts, although they may stipulate that you replace them, in which case if that happens I'll be looking for oem air boxes lol. I slapped a cement wall sideways at a pretty good speed coming to a complete stop so I'm assuming there's probably frame damage... witness said the car almost flipped too... so that's what I'm basing the total on. I don't mind foxing the car if there's no hidden issues, it's a great car! I do know a mechanic that I could have the work done at his shop so with the understanding of what your saying to clarify, if they don't total it, have them take it there and have my mechanic work out the price with them and have the work done there for a trustworthy better price?

So sorry to hear that man. Hope things are better for you going forward. My G was totaled by Geico 6 months ago and they were very reasonable. I had a few minor mods I pulled off and they didn't care. I would just talk to your adjuster about it.

How did the accident happen, if you don't mind me asking?

So sorry to see that J, and also your other health issues.
Sure hope you get yourself back to a good place first, then worry about the car.
Not sure if you are able to return the stock parts and remove the aftermarket pieces, would surely be worth asking, since your insurance doesn't take any of that aftermarket stuff into account when insuring your car. This assumes you still have your OEM parts.

At any rate best of luck through all this and keep us posted.

From: Framingham Ma,
Sorry man glad you are ok first.

If it is totaled I hope you have GAP INS. Most times they will not give you what you payoff is just fair KKB value. If they total it and you don't have GAP you owe the bank the difference, or you'd have to buy it for the difference + salvage value will banks even loan on a salvage car?
Also you should be able to take things off, I did not my old EVO when I was pushed into a barrier like the one you hit. You may only lose the cats the other things are easy take offs.

Again Glad you are man.
