Just Crashed my G :( :( :( Quick question?
Thanks for the further advice fellas, adjuster called they won't be looking at it till tomorrow. Called the tow place and they said typically geico (my insurance company) after a total doesn't have a problem with people pulling parts, although they may stipulate that you replace them, in which case if that happens I'll be looking for oem air boxes lol. I slapped a cement wall sideways at a pretty good speed coming to a complete stop so I'm assuming there's probably frame damage... witness said the car almost flipped too... so that's what I'm basing the total on. I don't mind foxing the car if there's no hidden issues, it's a great car! I do know a mechanic that I could have the work done at his shop so with the understanding of what your saying to clarify, if they don't total it, have them take it there and have my mechanic work out the price with them and have the work done there for a trustworthy better price?
Thanks guys, glad to see someone had a good experience with Geico that makes me rest a little easier. The accident was a combination of things but I'm gonna reserve posting about specifics for a bit just to be safe. I didn't hit anyone else's car just a nasty corner coming off our local thruway, lots of accidents there! Lots! They're already ruling it an at fault though if that says anything, I'll definitely fill in more later though. And thanks Brad! Honestly your car was the inspiration for lots of what I wanted to do with my car!! Just don't know what I'm gonna do if it's totalled
had everything right where I wanted... color, everything! Just working on other little things here and there. And not to even mention the health issues lately lol!! When life is gonna test you it's gonna test you!! I just think about coming out the other end stronger... this whole situation is just one I have never faced before... and that was my baby... again appreciate the advice from my extended fam and keep it comin!

Sorry to hear about your G. I just recently bought one and that's currently my biggest fear, especially with Winter coming up. At least you didn't get injured badly. From the looks, your car might not come back as totaled, but I'd need to see it first-hand to really tell.
My car was totaled about a month ago and their insurance (geico) took care of everything. I went to the tow yard after the adjuster had initially looked at my car (00 eclipse) to pull out some of my mods. The adjuster told me a few things that I should keep in there because they would likely value them higher than if I resold them (got $150 for an aftermarket stereo that I bought for $100 on amazon a couple years ago) other than that, I was able to pull off any of my mods that I wanted as long as I put my OEM parts back on it. Ended up getting my CAI, axel-back exhaust, subs, amp, wires, grounding kit, radiator (had less than 500mi on it, went to a junk yard before hand and grabbed an old one for $15), brakes (also less than 500mi), ICM, and a few other items. Didn't affect the value of the car in the end and I was able to sell my parts and get more of what I thought the car should be worth, rather than geico's appraisal. My girlfriend's Galant has the same engine as my eclipse so I swapped out some of her parts for my newer ones and planning on seller some of her OEM parts as well.
I don't know how things work in NY, but I can't complain about my experience with Geico. They gave me $3k (after hours of haggling) for a car that KBB valued at $2100, and I was able to sell most of my mods for an addition ~$1k.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. The most important part is that you got out (hopefully without any injury). I say talk to your adjuster and be honest with them and that you want your aftermarket parts since they aren't insured. Also, let them know that you will be putting it back to stock.
I have my oem intake airboxes, oem sways and oem exhaust if you are interested to swap them out with your parts. They are from a 2008 G35x and i am also located in NY. Good luck with everything.

Yeah unfortunately I don't think your parts will swap but I may hanG onto my aftermarket parts anyways in case I go with another G, IF and thats a big IF it gets totalled!
If they total the car out? It will then be sold for whatever value they determine. That is the amount you will have to pay your insurance company for the car. If they even allow it? I know, state farm allowed me to re-purchase my wifes maxima for $1100 after the cost of repair outweighed it's value. I fixed it myself for $500. But, it was nowhere as bad as yours. It just needed a core support, ac transducer and bumper cover.
The boxes may fit, I'm not sure about the sways though... either way waiting to find out the damage today, then it's decision time if it's totalled, stick with the G or go Q depending on the adjuster and what happens? Sadly I don't think I can wait until, or afford, the new 3.0 TT Q when it comes out
or I would love to grab that... again all of you guys have been great can't tell you how much the suggestions and well wishes mean right now. Thank you!

I've never had a car totaled before, so I can't exactly relate to what you're going through. But looking at the mods in your sig line, I can certainly sympathize and imagine what it feels like. Once you get over the glad-no-one-got-hurt thing, you probably feel like crap.
My advice is to rip off the band-aid and start over with an entirely different car. Or possibly a different hobby altogether, although that might be asking a lot unless you were already thinking the car hobby was getting out of hand.
Anyway... sympathies, buddy. G'luck.

)Q sedan folks that is.
G/L w/ whatever you end up doing
^^that made me LOL for real! And yes within about 2 hours of the intial ok thank God I'm ok and no one else was hurt the sting sets in... This is the first car I have ever wrecked either and its just a miserable feeling...myself and my brother and law pretty much did every mod on that car, it was a lot of fun and a lot of learning (a ton of that was reading here) all of which I enjoyed but if I was unable to retrieve that stuff the sting would be all the greater! Hoping my luck changes when I talk to this adjuster today! Funny/ironic/just plain crazy but I was on my way home from the cardiologists office because I had a pet scan (nuclear stress test) and was just hooked up to a Holter monitor (thats like a 24 hour ekg machine the size of a pager [hope you all know what a pager is lol] you wear all day)so when the go back to read my results my accident happened 15 minutes after they hooked it up... should be interesting to read to say the least.

Hopefully everything works out for you. Glad you weren't seriously hurt, which is all that matters. Those test results will probably have your doctors questioning you lol. As far as being totaled in ny I've had a friend buy back his car from the insurance then part it out. But that's a worse case scenario for you.
Cars totalled! They're gonna let me tow it and get the aftermarket parts off it and replace with oem! So that's a plus but also just found I have to go in for an angiogram tomorrow because my right coronary artery is 20% blocked! Love these games!

Good Luck,
Sean
