2013 G37x or Q40a

Which would you recommend if the price difference is about $5k. Both with NAV and AWD. 15k miles on G37 and 9k on Q40.

is the Q40a AWD as well? If so, I personally would save the 5k and go with the G37x.

Yeah...AWD. The only thing that I did not like in Q40a is that it does not have seat memory and steering power adjustments.

I found seat memory and steering power adjustments are of marginal usefulness if you are the only one driving the car. You set the seat and wheel once and just forget about them. Same is true to the feature that automatically moves seat back and tilts steering wheel up when you shut down car. At the first I thought it's nice now I don't even bother and just disabled it. All these are nice to have, but I won't miss them at all if I can save some extra money. Plus, I'm always worrying about those power feature stop working years down the road, so less can be better.

There are only two things I want more in G37: better low-end torque so acceleration from standing still can be quicker and easier to control (our X5 is so much better in this category), also a transmission that improves on the overall smoothness. If the Q40 has noticeable improvements on these two issues I'll be tempted...

Doesn't the Q40 have direct adaptive steering vs. the more tactile steering found in the G? IIRC, the Q is drive-by-wire...you might want to verify.

G37x would be my choice. I think it's a better looking car than the Q40 which is subjective I know but still I'd bet most feel that way. Especially the rear of the Q40 I don't like it at all.

Subjective? Yes...but...

+1 for the G's looks.

Any difference in warranty? If not, I'd take the G37x and enjoy it. Q40a offers no advantage unless of course you think it looks better than the G37x. Other than looks and possible longer warranty, I can't see any reason why you'd want the Q40a.

The q40 and g37 are the exact same car. You can't get the sport package on the q40 so if you want that I'd go g37

Thanks everyone. Two dealers verified that they are exactly the same cars except two things that I had mentioned in my original post. I think additional warranty for a newer car is what you get with Q40a. Is it worth 5k? I am reaching the conclusion that G is the way to go.

The G37 is the Q40.

You must be thinking of the Q50

For a 5k difference, I'd go with the Q40. Longer warranty and a newer vehicle for overall a fairly small price difference.
