I also have a 2011 G37s 6MT sedan and with the traction control enabled, it would easily cut out how you describe if I turned the wheel at all during the time the tires were slipping. Just the slightest left or right would cause it.

The flashing light is not traction control kicking on. It is the stability control thinking you are out of control so it kicks into action to slow you down.

Just unplug the yaw sensor and give it a try. $0 to try it and you can just plug it back in to reverse it.

I haven't yet investigated into how easy it is to access this censor in the centre console, but will do that soon. I don't have to press the "VDC off" button anymore if I disconnect the "yaw sensor" because that will turn off TCS, DSC, and some extra stuff as well?

You won't have to press the button anymore with the yaw sensor unplugged. Unplugging it will disable traction and stability controls. The traction control light that flashes in the dash will stay on with the sensor unplugged.

Cool! I'm going to check out the threads on how accessible it is.

Definitely not normal. I could run my rear tires down to the cords if I wanted to with the TCS/VDC button turned off

What year is your car? Does it have a manual or a slushbox?

I have a 2013 with a 6spd. manual. Trust me, something is wrong with your car, especially since you say it is working differently now than it was before.

I have worked with Nissans for 13 years and the TCS or VDC light turns it off all the way every time in every car except the GT-R. I would be very surprised if Infiniti did something different.

Seriously google it. The button is for traction control, not stability control. Stability control can't be turned off with the button. Give it a try too. Get in a parking lot, turn off the button, and then try to do a donut.

In my owner's manual, it is called the "VDC off switch" (stability control) which also cancels the TCS (traction control). Did Infiniti change something for the 2013 or did I just get lucky? I can get my car totally sideways with it off. You said the VDC in YOUR 6spd. sedan kicks on as soon as you turn the wheel under throttle? What happens in YOUR 6spd. sedan when you do a donut?

If I try to do a donut with the yaw sensor plugged in and the VDC turned off with the button, the VDC warning light will flash, cut the throttle, and apply the brakes. The only thing the VDC button seems to do is disable traction control when going in a straight line.

Others have experienced the same exact thing so maybe in the 2013 model year, they fixed this. But for my 2011, I can't turn off VDC. That is why, and many others, disable VDC by adding a switch or unplugging the yaw sensor.

That is wierd. Your car sounds like a VW. That is the only other brand I know of that you cannot shut off the stability control fully. Maybe Infiniti did something different than Nissan to avoid lawsuits from rich people getting in accidents since that is their "premium brand."

In your owner's manual do they still call it the VDC off button? How do they say it functions? In my book it says you can turn off the VDC. Maybe Infiniti knew they were cancelling the 6spd. sedan after '13 so they said, "aw the hell with VDC, we're only going to sell 10 of these anyway."

Hmm. I'm no stranger to turning off TC, and I've never experienced it taking over when disengaged. I've also auto-crossed the car a few times over the last four years, and with TC off it's entirely up to the driver how far to take things before drifting around a corner. Granted, that's not the time-effective way to Auto-x, but it's fun nonetheless.

Seriously, who among us hasn't turned off TC, crept up to a turn and swung the back end around the corner? At least once in a while, because racecar.

Heck, that's the only way to enjoy a RWD car on snow & ice. But when you're car is powerful enough to do that on dry pavement, it's a little more impressive. Stupid, sure... but impressive, LOL.

My car does donuts just fine with the VDC OFF button turned off. Did a little "experiment" this morning.
