Bought a G37x Sedan, want to mod. Limited car knowledge. Where to go from here?
As for the SSR... confirm everything on your own, which I'm sure you will.

Having the X you'll be fairly limited as to suspension choices. Air is always an option if you want to be able to run heights and, if done right, doesn't have an adverse impact on your driveability. I went with a Fortune 500 coils and swift springs but am going to swap out the springs so I can raise my ride height a bit and while I'm doing that I'll also go from 10/8 to 12/10. The only real option for us X'ers for struts in the front would be OEM or KYB and the difference is negligible in my opinion, my OEMs started leaking and I have a set of KYBs we pulled off when I went with coils.You do have some cash so if you don't want to go coil overs you could consider going Koni yellow in the back and having Koni revalve a set of the fronts for you. You'll be spending roughly th same amount of money as you would for coilovers IIRC. On the X sedans I think the Swift springs drop is about perfect, it's a little lower with what I think is a very nice rake to it.

Could you or someone explain what re-valving would entail? As in what they're phsyically doing it, and would I just get it removed then sent to said company for the work? Or could I get the shop I'm getting the work at do it, if they have the equipment
Also I've been looking at a lot of adjustable suspensions, but most of the electronic one's I've seen don't fit the AWD model. I think TEIN has one that I've seen a lot of people recommend. Would there be anyway to modify that system or my car get a RWD system to work on the AWD model? One thing I'm worried about is getting an aftermarket setup and it just being too stiff for my liking, and then having to pay again, the downtime of them working on it, or multiple times to get a shop to adjust it. Plus there are times when I drive long range on the highway and don't need stiff suspension. So I really think an electronic one would fit me best, I just can't seem to find one that fits the AWD model.
So far I've chosen the SSR III wheels(Thinking 18x8.5), the BBK upgrade,paddle shifters, 30% Tint all around, struts, and sway bars.A friend mentioned something about getting my front windshield tinted with some light blue tint to help with the heat and black leather. Florida heat is monstrous in the summer :|. I haven't chosen a brand on the struts or sway bars yet. I'll do some more looking and research and let you guys know what I've dug up. I'm sure as I learn I'll add one or two more things to help with the build besides the suspension.

Oh, and here's another wheel you might consider, they have custom offsets and several different finishes to choose from and they're a 2 piece Work wheel so you can be assured of a quality rim.

Unfortunately a lot of those wheels you liked in the previous post are only available in German bolt patters or have offsets that won't work on your sedan

Did I mention we have a ricer problem here in orlando? It's BAAAAD. 9/10 Civics from the 90's are now "race-cars" with 3 inch exhausts and a CAI. Or the badly done body kit that is either partially painted, or done really badly in matte black. Don't forgot the many, many civics that have dual exhaust and only one is dirty. Now that is funny as hell to see.

I just maxed out the dampening on my Fortunes this morning, so far I'm liking the difference and will crank up the rears when swapping out the springs for the longer ones. The street valving with 10/8 springs has been pretty good for me here in Memphis though I will be going with 12/10 when I buy the longer springs. They also offer the extenders for the rear so you can change the dampening without crawling under the car, the fronts are adjustable right from the engine compartment. Not quite as easy as electronic but still pretty simple.
I heard there are some meets in Miami, you may be able to find one near you. That would be a decent chance to test out rides with other suspensions. I can't knock any of the other set ups but I'm really happy with my Fortunes. You could reach out for Adam over at Race Consulting Agency, he may be able to help you research and offer up some suggestions. They're fairly full service so you could potentially get wheels, sways and full suspension from them depending on brands.

A poster from reddit (dnovz41) referred me to here to get some help/insight with my G37x and modding it.
Recently bought a 2013 G37x Sedan with 23.5k miles. I like the car so far, but the drive just feels a bit boring after the first month. I would like to get a more involved feeling while not totally diminishing the ride quality. I don't know as much about cars as I'd like to, so I don't know exactly how to achieve what I'm looking for. Or at least have enough knowledge to know which parts are better than others.
Coming from 250hp to 328hp is a big leap. I'm no professional driver, and still getting used to the hp upgrade. So I'm happy with the performance right now. The engine and exhaust note are amazing, so that is a low priority for me. Plus I'm the type of guy who has more fun at 40 than 80. Also I do a lot of dirt/country/clay road driving on the weekends. They're all well tended to, so I don't have to worry about bottoming out at all. I use to drive my old A3 down them, and that was a lot lower than my current g37x.
From my little bit of time reading through the forums I've seen that If I want to upgrade the breaks, to go for the akebono(sp?) upgrades. I'm still on the fence about those. Also sway bars are a going to be a good start to upgrading the handling without lowering ride quality. I think front/rear struts would be next? But I don't know exactly what that would affect besides handling. I plan on adding paddle shifters as well. From what I've seen it's very simple to do. I would like to add a remote start if it fit's in the budget as well. Recommendations on a good brand/price for that would be appreciated.
Other than finding new wheels/tires I'm not sure what else needs to be done to achieve what I'm looking for. I know I'm not going to keep my original ride quality while upgrading the handling and diminishing body roll.
The poster on reddit mentioned electronically controlled suspension that can be changed on the fly. I really like that idea, being able to set the suspension to my mood at the time. I've also been looking at air ride suspension, but I haven't found much on how different it is in comparison to traditional suspensions handling. Just that it's adjustable, and generally softer.
I'm not too sure if I'm interested in any exterior mods either. I really like the stock look as is. The g37 sedans I've seen with 18"s and a 1" drop is a great look that I would like to emulate. The sport package front end doesn't look that much better IMO, so another low priority if at all. I'm on the fence about the OEM style spoiler right now.
If I left anything out let me know. My budget is 10K, and most of the work will be done by a shop. I'm physically incapable of doing most of the work except for the paddle shifters and remote install(unless its other than plug-n-play)

You're right about replacing Sway Bars. It is a good, cheap, fast and not terribly invasive way to improve handling and reduce body roll. Prior to doing other suspension modifications like struts as you were saying, change the sway bars first, and maybe the result will be sufficient enough for you not to want to do anything else to the suspension. That was the fist thing I did after getting my tints. I installed the Hotchkis sway bars. I paid $389 plus tax, totaling $424. Best money I ever spent. I noticed the difference right away, and had them for a little over a year and loved every minute of it. Sadly my lease has ended and I need to take them off, sell them, and give the car back. They are in great shape, they work great, and all the hardware is included. Why buy new ones, when slightly used ones will give you the same result for about half the price. This way you will have more money left for all those other mods on your list.
