2011 G37X- Where to STart
2011 G37X- Where to STart
I already have all of the typical ineterior & exterior mods & now I want to get after performance mods. Where do i start? Im not quite ready to dump thousands into a turbo or supercharger.
Great Resource

Will depend on what performance area you're looking to improve:
Engine: CAI, Exhaust, UPREV
Brakes: BBK, brake lines
Suspension: Coilovers, sways
I already have CAI, so I'll probably go with the UPREV next and then upgraded rear sway (since I have the AWD). Then will go to coilovers for the drop. BBK would be next. Again, all depends on what you're after, but the link should give you plenty of ideas.

IMO: Best bang for your buck that will yield the biggest increase in performance are going to be Stillen Gen3 Intake & Hotchkis Sways. Both are fairly cheap and make a big difference.
Then I would go with Exhaust. Then I would do an UPREV.

I have to agree with Rochester, the sways and RHFCs were the two mods I felt gave me the biggest change on my X. Good tires shouldn't have to be said but I suppose it's always worth repeating.
In my case I think I have just about all available power mods short of boost. The only other thing I can think of is porting and I'm not certain I want to go that route. Personally I didn't tune until after the CAI, RHFCs, CBE and m370 went on and I didn't go uprev.

I wouldn't do HFC's till you wanna do the whole exhaust and do it all at once. I'd to intakes and sways, An Stillens are over priced, Takedas are the same thing and like $100 less.
If you're paying a shop for the install, there's really little to none money saved by doing both at once. However, there's certainly an added cost when buying both at the same time.
Also, between the two, the cats are the significant power add. The catback is a worthy power mod... no doubt, but only a little bit. It's mostly sound and looks.
Lastly, by doing cats and catback as separate mods, you get a chance to appreciate the nuances of each. When modding a car, I've always thought it was a valuable thing to be able to assess each project on its own merits, instead of blending it all together.
That's a fine opinion, but what's the rationale?
