Bought the car new in 2008. My AC compressor went bad and was replaced under warranty at 38k miles in 2011. 2 years later, I report AC issues again. Dealer looks at it and claims nothing is wrong. Today at 82k miles, I have no cold air again. Car is at the dealer where they tell me the compressor is bad again and needs to be replaced for $1400. How does this keep happening? Anyone experience this? Ive called Infiniti Consumer Affairs and opened a case. I have a feeling its an electrical issue rather than the actual part going bad.
anyone have any helpful info to share?
I am quite angry to say the least.

Was the compressor clutch not engaging? Did they say what exactly pointed to a bad compressor?
My guess is you might have metal particulates flowing in your ac system which over time killed your compressor.
Generally after you replace a compressor for failure a safeguard is to install a inline filter to capture metal particles.
And of course a complete ac flush and service

haha, I assure you, no more than anyone else. Summers in St. Louis get in the 90's and 100s easily. Aside from 3 maybe 4 months, the rest of the time is windows down.
Just asking because not using the A/C itself can cause the seals to go bad since they aren't being put to use. I'd say not using the A/C on the vehicle could be the most damaging thing allowing the freon to leak out and causing the compressor to run dry.

In the owners manual of my 94 Legend...it actually says to run the A/C for a minimum of 10 mins per week...especially during the winter months to keep everything lubricated...
I never turn mine off...but I also live in the south east...

I find it hard to believe that not using my AC is causing this issue. 3 AC compressors!?!?!?! Come on. There has to be a fault, short or other issue causing this.

I filed a case with Infiniti/Nissan Consumer results. The result, they are willing to cover service costs if I cover the part. Ive found that the compressor and clutch can be had at around $640 new, so looks like Ill be buying the assembly. AC Compressor number 3!!!
I replaced a ac compressor in a 07 Honda accord with a oem Denso ac compressor w/ clutch for about $200 from amazon.
Honda websites and dealer was asking about $600.
I got the exact same brand Honda uses for $200 and did it myself.
If you paid by credit card to the dealer you might be able to get another replacement at no cost. Speak to the service manager.
If that fails request a charge-back from your credit card
I put 171796 miles on my previous 06 G35 6sp and used the AC daily even in 10 degree NJ winter weather and never had a AC problem.
Set the temp to whatever is comfortable for you and leave it alone
Just my $.02
