Can you guys tell me what this is

Hey guys I'm currently in the market for a G37 sedan and came across this one with a rectangular cutout on the lower front bumper grill near the drivers side fog light. Can anyone tell me what it is and what it does? What package does it belong to?

That would be part of the tech package. It's for the distance control unit that measures the distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you when you are using your cruise control.

Thanks for your reply. Upon further research about the technology package I see it includes

Advanced Climate Control System (ACCS); (ACCS) w/ Plasmacluster technology

What exactly is advanced climate control system and how does it differ from regular automatic climate control system.?

I tried googling it but came up with no direct answer.

Not sure if this helps but this is what I could find on the ACCS. I gave up looking for the Tech package as it was very hard to find on the 2012 models which is what I ended up with for my car.

The air itself is cleansed of most allergens, germs and odors with the Advanced Climate Control System.

Technology Package
Intelligent Cruise Control
Brake Assist with Preview Braking
Advanced Climate Control System (ACCS) with auto recirculation and Plasmacluster™ air purifier
Rain-sensing, variable intermittent front windshield wipers
Front-seat Pre-Crash Seat Belts

ACCS includes a small version of Sharp Electronics Plasmacluster, which is a electrostatic precipitator that gives dust particles an ionizing electrical charge and then drawing them towards an opposite charged metal plate using high voltage. If you remember the chain of stores called the Sharper Image. They marketed the Ionic Breeze fan. A news group like 20/20 or 60 minutes did a study and found it to be pretty much ineffective junk and Sharper Image did a restructuring bankruptcy soon after. They closed the store in my local mall, otherwise I'd return the unimpressive $379 Ionic Breeze fan my wife just haaaaad to have. (there is some grime on the plate, so I suppose it is doing something other than just consuming electricity) .... BTW, Sharp had nothing to do with Sharper Image.

Also included in the ACCS is something called a "Grape Polyphenol filter", which I know nothing about and appears to be a crafty Nissan term for "pollen filter". You know, the same company who coined "NASA inspired seats".

If you or any of your passengers have allergies, you will appreciate the ACCS system. If not, then the standard cabin filter all G's have will work fine.

Wow you guys really gave me more information than I was expecting to get. So far this forum has made a good impression on me and I'm not even a G owner yet.

I'm coming from a 2008 acura TL and was a member on acurazine.

This G37 is 2011 with 26k miles listed at 24,499 1-owner. Carfax and auto check results are clean.

This G37S is fully optioned out. It has the technology package, Premium package, Sport package, Navigation package & interior accent package as well as lit up door sills.

WHite with black interior. How does that price sound to you guys?

I really have no idea what it should go for money-wise, but I do see the dealer offers free nationwide delivery - upto a $1200 value. Not sure where you are located but a 1-way ticket to DFW from anywhere in the US should be cheap, so I'd say you can get atleast another grand off by driving it home yourself. If you are in the metroplex, even better.

Looks like a great car, fully loaded too.

I just picked up an '12 G37x Sedan Sport, Nav & Premium with 29k miles for $24k so I think your in the right ballpark for that car's price. I couldn't find the Tech package and I had to make a quicker decision than I had expected so I felt pretty good about my purchase. The Tech package I kind of gave up on cause it seemed much harder to find around my area. Mine was a 1-owner as well.

I'd say it looks like a good deal.

And yes, I wasn't even an owner in the beginning and this site has been very helpful which has been awesome. Thanks to all its members for sure.

Yeah, qmantran, as others have indicated, it was a pretty "uncommon" option and, to me, not one I necessarily needed. In my search, there was one that happened to have this at a little used car lot. I recognized it by the lower grill. I'm not even sure they realized the car had it. They were about 70 miles from me and didn't return calls so... I never really investigated further as there were other CPO cars, closer, for similar money.

Thanks for all the helpful replies guys/gals.

That white G37S just happens to be located 15-20 minutes from me. I checked it out in person and everything looks good.

The dealer it was being sold at only sells used cars but man they have a huge selection. You walk in to the front door entrance and there's a black 2015 Lexus RC-F coupe to greet you as well as 10+ C7 vettes, Porsches, Z/28 camaro & Bentleys all inside this place.

Seems like a real legit used car lot and not some small shady one.

They told me 50% of their sales are to customers from out of state that purchase the vehicle without even seeing it in person.

Dealer review according to Google is 4.5 stars out of 5 and has almost 100 reviews.

I just wasn't sure if I was paying too much, but it is reassuring to hear you guys say the price is within the correct ballpark.
