Car Having Trouble to Start (Video Clip)
Car Having Trouble to Start (Video Clip)
Hey guys,
I have had some troubles over the past month or so with my car hesitating to start. It happens on and off and is not consistent. I took it to the dealer a week ago and they changed the battery and said that could be the problem. Unfortunately I didn't have these videos at the time but below I was able to record what happens. Any thoughts on what the issue could be? I am taking it back to the dealer tomorrow.

In the first video this occurred after driving the car for about 10 min and upon returning home it struggled to start. I had to hit the gas pedal to get it going.
Second video, happened this morning. Stepped on the brakes and attempted to start It. After a few times the brake pedal couldn’t go down and I had to hit the gas to get the car started.
Thanks for the help,

This also happened to me, very few times. I noticed that it only happens on warm restart. The car will start, the RPM rise up and than fall down and stall.
I can restart it and give it some gas and than it's fine.

Have you ever cleaned your thottle bodies? If not, it is fairly simple and likely the culprit. Here's a link the DIY and discussion on this topic.

I have had this happen to my car a few times a year. I couldn't yet find any correlation to outside ambient temperature, cold or warm start, etc.
Maybe in the spring when the temperature in the underground garage is more tolerable I will have a look at those throttle bodies. Mine has 108000km so I'm sure they're not looking great...

In the first video it definitely seems like dirty throttle bodies. My '08 did that once- cleaned the TB's- never happened since.
Honestly, in the 2nd video, it really seems that the engine isn't turning over fast enough to fire. It seems sluggish to me. Either way, clean the TB's and hopefully this will resolve the problem.

I showed the clips to Infiniti this morning and the one Mechanic/Technician said "he never seen this problem before". I told him that I put the clips on this forum and they mentioned the throttle body and he said yeah that's something I can check. I think its time for me to go to another dealer.
thanks for the tips.

So I picked the car from the dealer and they said they couldn't replicate the issue. I am waiting to hear back today from the mechanic as he wasn't in the shop when I picked up the car last night. I am leaning towards they didn't do anything in terms of checking/cleaning the throttle body or fuel pump system etc.
