Thinking of buying 2012 G37 Sedan
I think it's funny how he said that he tried everything to fix the issues with his transmission but he never installed a grounding kit, which for me has solved 80% of my issues with the 7at, and a tune should fix the rest of my issues. He complains about the handling but never installed sways or strut bar. Plus all of the issues with handling/transmission that he blames on the AWD system I never had any of those issues only on my xS. At one point he says that when hitting bumps on the high way it feels pretty firm, the complains that the suspension is too soft. OP, take his criticisms with a grain of salt. A lot of his issues could have been easily fixed with aftermarket parts, but if he did that he wouldn't have anything to complain about and his username wouldn't be correct anymore.
I was just wondering about mpg.
It's such a controversial topic when it comes to grounding kit.
One one hand I think modern cars have pretty good grounding so it's unnecessary to instal extra grounding. But then if you get some results from adding extra grounding it could mean that there was something wrong with original grounding on your car, perhaps some rust or something. But I don't think it's the case as your car is pretty new.
On other hand I know people who says they gained extra power after installing it in Japanese cars. Maybe Nissan and other Japanese cars don't have solid grounding?
Which grousing kit did you buy for your G?

I made mine following a DIY I found here. I had to modify it to add throttle body ground leads, and some of the wires were 6" longer than needed (wasted some material when I shortened)
I spent like $40 in materials, and have almost enough left over to make a second kit.

The thing we noticed was that the grounding wires that came with the car start at the battery terminal and run along the cowl and down the right side of the engine. The grounding kit adds grounding wires down the left side of the engine and across the front towards where the other one comes down. All you're doing is completing the circuit.
I'm glad the car treated you well!I'm the owner of a 2010 G37s Anniversary Edition with the sports package, 4 wheel steering, etc. and the ride is not punishing, and IMHO makes for fun and spirited driving. It's actually a lot of fun to drive when you go after some twisties and grab some curves, but can also be nice and composed on the hwy when needed. As far as gas mileage, don't buy this car if you are looking for a fuel miser, this car isn't it. However, I commute 110 miles daily, and i'm averaging 25-26mpg, which is very good for a car like this. I had my 7AT updated with the TSB notification regarding the tranny issue, and haven't had any issues with the tranny since, that was 2 yrs ago. I heard a lot of wind noise in the rear of the car and took back to the dealer and found out the window seals were bad and needed replacement, no issues since replacement by dealer, at no cost. i had an annoying rattle that i thought was coming from the dashboard, but later determined that it was my sunglasses i stored in the overhead sunglass holder. Once I put a velvet liner in the sunglass holder, no more rattle or noise. Overall, this is a fun car to own, and I've enjoyed my G experience. I have the Graphite Shadow exterior with the monaco red leather interior, that's a very nice color combination. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I have one of the oldest V36 out there. Mine was built in 12/06, which means my car is almost 8 years old.
I have 90k miles on my car, and I have no issues with it thus far since my warranty ended at 60k miles.
However, one thing that IS scaring me (probably won't happen on the newer G's that the oil galley gaskets are prone to blow out at higher mileages, causing an expensive repair (at least $1500, and some dealers will charge almost $3000.) You definitely need to look into this, as some members on myg37 and g35driver have had this issue. The parts have been updated from a paper gasket to a metal core gasket.
Otherwise that ticking time bomb in my engine (it may have already blown I just don't realize it,) I'm happy with my car. It still has a beast of an engine and will put a smile to my face when I drive it. I get about 17mpg city/23 mpg highway.
I did have several problems with my car, but they were mostly taken care of by my dealer. Many of them are what other members have seen. Keep in mind that Infiniti has probably fixed those issues in the newer models.
...
Five: I had interior scratches on my steering wheel and the door panel trim handles. I ended up having the dealer replace these for free after complaining. The driver before me caused these scratches. Unlike some other member's experience, the dealer did not give me any trouble in replacing these parts. They did not even ask questions at all. The new parts seem to have different material on them that resist scratching. However, the steering wheel still feels the same, with the same material, so it may be prone to scratching again.
...
The car still drives wonderfully, and I still love it, despite the issues I have been experiencing with this vehicle. I have always treated it very well (always on time oil changes, and premium fuel from Exxon/Mobil)
Here are more problems I had later:
1. Door wood trim was peeling off. Dealer replaced under warranty.
2. Instrument panel/gauge had to be replaced because the tachometer was stuck at between 1k and 2k when car was turned off while hot. Dealer replaced under warranty.
3. Passenger seat had to be replaced due to airbag sensor malfunction. Dealer replaced under warranty.
4. Wheel bearing had to be changed out at 57k miles. Premature compared to other cars I've owned. Dealer replaced under warranty.
I noticed being on g35driver and myg37 for a while that some members have been experiencing these issues same as me. I realize that this list may seem long, but my car is pretty trouble free since all the warranty work was done. I'm also pretty OCD when it comes to my car so I detail every small problem I had.

Reading this thread before my purchase of a 2010 G37 in graphite shadow would've been even more helpful so that I'm aware of the issues that I would possibly/eventually face in the future.
I was looking at the TL, TLX, IS350, and the 335i. The TL was nice but it didn't warrant as much an upgrade from the Accord sedan I had. The TLX also felt boring to drive, p-aws wasn't true AWD and not required in Socal. Both the TL and IS350 had ventilated seats and low maintenance reqs, which were the only reasons they were considered. The 335i I was wary of because of the reputation that German cars would spend more time in the shop than in your hands being driven. The last-gen IS350 was also boring to drive, felt very much like a small boat.
My local dealership's top salesman knew me so well by then because I couldn't make up my mind on which Infiniti to sign on. For the OP, if the weight was an issue, the 2-seater 370z with same engine would've been your best bet at 3200 lbs. But if you wanted more room, something for the long-term, the G37 is a great choice! Hopefully whatever you chose as a result of this thread satisfies you.
My very last day before pulling the trigger on the car, I was torn between the 370z and the G37. I could not be happier with my choice.
