20-22 is not too bad but it all depends how you drive. I was actually looking at TL, they redesigned exterior in 2012 and it does look better, it's growing on me. I think 3.7 TL gets around the same mpg as G37, but I know G37 drives way better.

I won't be modifying my car as I like everything 100% original, even paint on the bumpers. I know I'm pretty weird when it comes to stuff like that.

Only thing I will add is tint, I will need it in FL.

I sat in an AWD TL before buying the G37. The salesperson wanted me to test drive, but I told him flat out...I can't afford it. It was like $7000 more than the G37 I bought.

Sweet ride for sure though. I was digging the interior. Too bad it's a FWD by design.

I heard AWD in TL is pretty sweet but I don't need AWD. It only adds extra weight to the car.
Too bad you don't test drive TL just to see how it performs against g37.
TL is pretty fast even with 3.5 engine and it's 20city / 29 highway which is better than g37 but I think 19city / 27highway is a little too optimistic for G37

I'm actually not too crazy about TL interior, too many button.

SH-AWD TLs have a pretty good reputation, and are available with a 6MT.

A downside of AWD is undoubtedly weight, but the added traction benefit, particularly in an otherwise FWD car, more than offsets an extra ~150 pounds.

RWD and AWD>FWD

Yeah it adds extra weight.
What is exact weight of G37 (RWD) sedan? I was looking online but I get different numbers. TL is much bigger but does it weigh more. It doesn't feels like a heavy car while driving which is a good thing.

What do you think, how much that spare tire weigh in G37? If I get G37 I will probably keep spare tire in my garage.

The weight varies based on model and option.

Who cares how much the spare tires weighs. It's a 4 door sedan, dude.

Why would you keep your spare in the garage unless you're going to the track or something? The small amount the spare weighs is insignificant for a daily driver. If that miniscule amount of weight matters, you should be looking at something far more focused that a G37 Journey.

I bet the 7 speed auto weighs more than the spare

Yeah sits are very nice. The details and finish of the interior is high quality.

Well, in my opinion, all those buttons on the dashboard scream late 90s / early 2000s.
Sometimes less is more

I like G37 but I don't like heavy cars. TL weigh quite a lot but you don't feel it while driving at all.
I guess I will have to test drive G37 or better rent one for a few days.
Does G37 feel heavy on the road? I don't mean steering wheal.

Of course not. It's a powerful car.
It feels in place and ready to maneuver.

Since you're looking at a TL. I would recommend you to check out a 335i. You'll get everything in one package. It will whoop both g37 and TL ***. Handle better than both, interior is not bad. Plus has slightly better gas mileage.

The only reason I chose the G over the 3 series is because similarly equipped bimmer would have cost me $10000 more than my G. But since you were looking at an m3, it will be cheaper than that.

^at the time I was shopping, "equivalently equipped" e90 335i price was over $15K difference!

Paying considerably more for a car with rigorous maintenance regime and lower reliability? I'll pass, at least for now. Perhaps it will seem more feasible down the road, but tough to break the mentality of a habitual Japanese car owner.

Plus as much as I love cars, there's certainly a diminishing returns for me, and the 3 series never seemed worth it to me, just not interesting enough to warranty the price.

Now an S4 ...

With that said, what are you smoking dude? The two are nearly identical in performance and laps around the track. Yes, the bmw feels more ideal in the turns and is an overall better car (boring *** interior withstanding....), but for 10k+ more I would expect such. However, the performance (stock) is neck and neck so your claims of whooping *** is only probably valid when it comes to a certain level of douchiness. Not to mention the horror stories you hear from the cars being in and out of the shop. Don't get me wrong, I think beemers are great cars (have had my eye on a few m3's) but it's statements like yours that give actual bmw owners bad reps.

Always thought 335 was considerably quicker, and at a glance (google), looks like performance, at least accel, is not neck and neck

At best, BMW is favored by 0.5 sec 0-60, at worst, a whole sec, depending on the publication.

Pretty significant IMO (but hardly worth the price IMO)
