The type and quality of tint determines how much heat it rejects, not how dark it is. Cheapo 5% tint rejects hardly any heat, 70% quality tint can reject as much as 50-60% of heat.

I would just do 35% on all of the windows.

IMO the uniform look is better, and I think lighter tint looks classier anyway.

That's what I did. Paid $197 fine but kept the tint & it saved me a lot of time.

I think you should just pay your ticket and keep the tint as is.

I have 20% in the front and 10% in the back. I wouldn't want to go lighter...

This is Just the reason I went with a 35% tint.
I didn't need another reason to have a chat with the cops

I had 5% all around except windshield(obviously) ...till 2 months ago. When cops really started to crack down. And now I got 35% and it sucks! so damn light! Hate it...But here in Hawaii...there's a tint fine of $291 per window if they really wanted to be ****s! So be it...LOL

I had 35% tint on my 2009 Altima for about 2.5 years and I was pulled once and I just payed the fine and that was that. I've had my G for 2 years and I also have 35% all around w/ black interior and I got pulled over once by a state trooper and I just payed the fine. So 4.5years total and pulled over twice payed the fine and that's it for me. I mainly drive with the windows down but I think it depends if the cop wants to be a douche or not because I drive next to cops sometimes and they don't do anything (but I do get worried sometimes lolz) YOLO hehe

35% tint usually = 20% when you factor the window itself.

So your 20% tint was probably closer to 10-5%

For people that just suggest paying the fine and move on, it really depends on the state.

For example, if you get pulled over for tints in MA, it counts as a moving violation and affects your insurance rate. Imagine your insurance rate increasing because of tints for the next couple of years.

Any time you get pulled over while you were driving in MA counts as a moving violation and your insurance rates get affected. Only exception is when you get ticketed while your car is parked. For many people, it is not worth it to get pulled over for that.

When I drove to Boston to spend some time with my mom last summer, my cousin was shock to see how dark the tint was, he said in Boston they would of pulled me over everyday luckily I was from out of town. I did drive next to state trooper and nothing, guess it help sometime to have a white car with black tint.

Like Vizard_87 if we get pulled over by officer douche then were ****

No cheapo EVER when it comes to tint IMO. You sir are correct...quality tint truly does reject a good amount of heat. Really noticed it when I had my loaner the last few days w no tint....felt like the Russians were torchering me!

Good choice...now knock on wood and hopefully you'll never be bothered again over your tint.

From: Framingham Ma,
Never really agreed with the tint law, Not the % casue the 35% here in MA is dark enough, But if your a officer , Fire fighter ECT, you can have as dark as you want? At least where I am. I have a few friends that are that are either fire fighters, Officers and on corrections officer, all of them have like fricken 10%. An never have issue( 10+ years) I have had two other friends and my brother have to rip the tint off in front of the office, or they'd get a 250$+ ticket for illegal tint? They had 20 and 25? :/
