Invidia Q300 Exhaust

Hi !

What are your thoughts on the Invidia Q300 ? Are they any good ?
Does anyone have this on their car, can you please give me some info on how it sounds, quality, price wise, reliability, etc. Sorry if this has been covered before.

Thanks

Really?! Search search search. This has been discussed ad nauseum. Not to be rude, but use the search.

Lot's of info in these 2 threads:

It's probably one of the more quiet cat-back exhausts, so if you want loud, it might not be the best choice. It has nice growl at start up and sounds really good from idle to about 4500 RPM. At that point, it starts getting drowned out by intake noise from inside the car. I didn't want a loud exhaust, so I'm really happy with the sound.

Quality seemed good. All the flanges were straight and everything fit together nicely.

Price wise, it's the cheapest cat back. I got mine for a little over $800 shipped. The Top Speed axle back would be another option, but there seemed to be more quality control issues with it, and I wasn't a fan of the tips.

Reliability its a stainless steel exhaust. It should hold up fine. I have about 1500 miles on mine.

Tip: Paint the mufflers black for a more stealth look, but have a helper to get them in, or you'll chip the paint and need to touch it up.

Another user with the q300 with the updated xpipe here. It's a OK exhaust. The only problem i have with it is the xpipe. The crossing on the pipe is just so small. It makes a noise when you rev it high or accelerate at a fast rate. It's because of how the exhaust pulses through the pipes. You begin to hear a hiss like noise. Check out videos on youtube. They all have it. You can fix this by buying a magnaflow resonated muffler like this MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles and replace the xpipe with it. I bought that one, but then decided not to do it due to the modifications that had to be done. I also heard success with a cheaper xpipe as well. But overall it's a very good exhaust system. Loud enough but not enough to wake up your significant other in the morning when you have to go to work. It maintains that "purr" like noise these vq engines are known for.

I wouldnt reccommend putting the magnaflow in place of the x. my Fast intentions exhaust came like that when i bought it back in 09, and now the muffler is blown out. im having to buy a new updated xpipe.

How did it mess up the muffler? The magnaflow basically acts as a muffler with bigger spacing so the pulses can be drowned out in it. I just wish invidia would do something about it. I mean the updated xpipe has a pretty lame opening. Have you seen the first release? pretty hilarious. But i think they were going more for performance and not sound.

I can't say I've noticed a hiss

My poor mans intake--Cobb post MAF + afe filters + removed hood liner--totally drowns out the exhaust from 4500-7500 rpm.
