should've stayed in bed today

So I decided to go in and get a little overtime today, but didn't make it to work. My '12 xS decided it wanted to go for a little hydroplane ride on the interstate.

I am going to look on the bright side though and see this as a chance to do some cosmetic mods since the rear bumper is going to have to be replaced anyways. With that being said I figure this forum would be the best place to look for advice. I wouldn't mind doing a lip and/or body kit, but not really sure what is available for the sedan. Anyone on here have any suggestions or recommendations? I don't want anything super aggressive, but would like to do something that would make my car stand out a little. Thanks in advance.

Wow, that's a rough way to start the day. Glad you or anyone else didn't get hurt (at least it doesn't sound like it) I'd wait to see what the insurance is going to do, but once it was settled Id go for the carbon signal rear diffuser and side skirts, and try to replace the tails with JDM ones.

Consider the 2007 - 2009 rear bumper with a painted lower valence area. It has a cleaner design, IMO.

Yeah, It wasn't a good start to the day. Luckily it was just me as I was going to work so the wife and kids were still at home in bed. And about the only thing hurt worse than the car is my pride lol.

If you live far enough south that you don't have snow and ice, I would suggest getting rid of the all season tires and put on some high performance summer tires that have a high rating for wet roads.

the early 2007-2009 model sedans have a lot of cosmetic parts us 2010- and up don't so you have a lot to choose from. Tommy kaira, impul, or upgrade to 2010 bumper.

I'm in SW Missouri so I do have to deal with weather. That's the main reason I chose an X over a S.

So sorry to see this, sure hope the insurance/body work dealings go smooth and you get a perfect outcome. Glad it was just metal & plastic that was twisted.

2010+ rear bumper design makes the car look wider, big plus in my book, but can understand why others prefer 07-09

OP may I ask how fast you were going? that road doesn't look that wet, and you had the G37X. My guess is you did a sharp turn at high velocity on a partially wet road and lost control. Is that it?

BTW Carbon signal would be a good choice.

How many ?/32" do you have left on your tires?

I replaced mine at 5/32 because I felt slight hydroplaning in heavy rain.

4 new tires are cheaper than an accident

I was going around 75 in a 70 on the interstate and drive it almost daily. It had been raining on and off since last night. And no sharp turns, was going straight and the rear end just came around on me.

And as for the question about tires I had around 50% tread left, but will probably go ahead and replace all 4 after this.

Wow that's a scary feeling to hydroplane like that. I hydroplaned once a few years ago and almost hit another car before regaining control. I'm glad you're okay.
