OP--sucks about your car, but glad you are OK. Did the stability control try to intervene at all?

Actually it's the opposite. Most summer tires are going to perform better in the wet than an A/S tire, assuming they have similar tread depth and are properly inflated.

The stupidest post Ive ever seen.
Go ahead and mount a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on your car and then you tell me youre hydroplaning. Please refrain from stating such ignorant information.
You should check your rear axle and suspension. That rear wheel doesn't look like it's at anything resembling the correct angle.
I haven't inspected it, but I told the owner of the body shop it's going to about it so he would be sure to look it over real good to check for damage. That's the main reason I had it towed from the scene.
As far as the question about the vdc, I didn't see it come on initially, but once the slide started I was looking everywhere but there lol.
I was going around 75 in a 70 on the interstate and drive it almost daily. It had been raining on and off since last night. And no sharp turns, was going straight and the rear end just came around on me.
And as for the question about tires I had around 50% tread left, but will probably go ahead and replace all 4 after this.
Sorry to hear what happened to your GxS! But glad to hear you're OK. But I'm going to have a guess that since your car is a 2012 you have the original Dunlop Sport Maxx tires on there? I have a 2010 G37xS with the orig Dunlops on there and they are EXTREMELY HORRIBLE in the wet/rain....REALLY bad tires overall....I've probably hydroplaned a handful of times in the slightest of rainfalls. Basically to the point I won't drive my G in the rain...I'd rather take my '02 WRX...I'm going to kill these tires (if they don't kill me first!) and get another set before the fall/winter...
Just a quick update. The insurance adjuster went by the body shop yesterday and determined I done a little over $8,300 in damage. That is with some new OEM parts and some used. The list includes a bumper, trunk lid, quarter panel, wheel, and about 3/4's of a rear end.

Ouch, that's just about the same bill mine came out to when it was t-boned.
