Racing Harness

I was looking to get a racing harness either 4 or 5 point harness preferably. With a universal harness bar. I saw a thread about it but didn't find any diy for it. Anyone has an idea of how to install it? Im looking to keep my stock seats for about 1 more year so taking them out is not an option, can the harness be installed with the stock car seats?

I just installed a universal harness bar and it was not too bad, did it without instruction but I will take some pictures to assist others soon.

The universal bars attach to the stock seat belt mounts and can be used with stock seats. Not a bad install but being a coupe it was a pain fitting in places.

Harness bar without a roll bar or cage is pretty dangerous/ can be fatal in a rollover.

If you want a harness, I recommend getting a retractable one, or one that attaches to factory seatbelt mounts.

If you have a 4point or higher harness and no roll cage its deadly.

Stock 3 point harnesses are meant to allow the body to be thrown to one side during a rollover, preventing head and neck injury if the roof was to cave in slightly.

Atleast get a 4 point cage, if you just run a harness bar it may not suffice.

Takata actually makes a 4 point harness now that allows you to be thrown forward just slightly in a crash, so that you don't slip under. But, there's a good point about it being dangerous without a cage.

You still need a harness bar for the 3 point harness right?

If you are looking for racing harness for street, check out Schroth Autocontrol 2 or 3. Basically they work like a factory belt, but when you want, you can click a button and lock the retractor mechanism. This way you'd be safer on the street and be able to move about and touch the ac and what not. And when at the autocross you can lock the belts and crank it down tight. Keep in mind you'll be forgoing your rear driver side seat belt to install.

Not for the schroth one! It attaches to the C pillar (backseat upper seatbelt bolt).

I'd get that one. I happen to be looking at these for my datsun, so I had the link handy already.

anybody got photo with that installed?

btw, the "tricks" I learn using the factory belt is, slide your seat backward a little, buckle in, then pull the belt hard and tight so it locks into position, then slide your side forward again. This way your factory belt would be a little tighter.

its better than nothing.

The lap belts would bolt to the same spots. The should belts would be a 3 point behind you to the factory rear seat belt upper location. C pillar.
