First time AUTOX
First time AUTOX
So today i went to an autox event, with my 09 rwd sedan. Current handling mods i have are Hotchkiss sway, and gtspec strut bar. And although i had some POS tires i did good for a first timer, thats what the judges said, they also said they loved how the car sounds at WOT
.. Anyways although i was the only one in my class I compared my times with a guy that had a Nissan 300ZX turbo charged running close to 500WHP and race tires, and our times where 6 secs apart
he ran 1:05 and I ran 1:11.. I did spun out on the second lap when i tried to push it too hard on the figure 8
lol. Car felt good around the corners but every time i pushed it too hard back would just kicks out
.. you guys think i could have gotten a 1:05 time with some falkens? Here are some pictures
This miata got a 1:08
And this Mini cooper was the winner, supercharged, running slicks, ran 58 secs

It is but if you look at my times I improved 7 secs from the first run to the third. and it was my first time doing autox this guys have been doing it for years. the guy that drove the miata has been doing it for 55 years, he was the founder of the group.

OMG are you actually doing autox runs on that lot with curbs and trees and signs so close to the track? we're blessed with big open parking lots to use here.
And don't even bother comparing times with people until you've got a bit more seat time, just enjoy yourself.
The usual FTD guy at our events when I used to participate was driving a 1978 honda civic with suspension mods and R comps, so don't get too hung up on what you're driving

As for the typical, horrible G37 under-steer... aftermarket swaybars will take care of that.
Oh, and just noticed your screen name, RevLimitLaunch.
In that context, you want TC off, too. And I wouldn't recommend red-line for a good launch. 4K give or take should be about right. For that matter, dumping the OEM clutch on these cars doesn't seem right either. I've found if you're a little more gentle dropping out of high-rev, you can actually launch the car, instead of spinning or bogging down. But I'm no expert or weekend racer, just an old dude who likes to drive his car. And truth be told, I'm not a typical auto-xer. Still haven't figured out how to manage the nerves when running through the track. It's quite a rush. And now that I've got these heavy Vossens on the car, I'm disinclined to auto-x the car again.

Going to try and get some paddle shifters in before it starts and what do you guys think about brake launching the auto??? Don't wanna mess up my brand new car
