A/C Fan popping noise when on highest setting

OK noticed this the other day when I tried to quickly cool down my car. I turned on teh A/C and turned the fan up to the highest setting..as usual the "Recirc" light comes on and I set the "Mode" to footwells and upper body...thats' when I get, other than high fan noise, a random "popping" (best I can describe it) sound coming from the vents. It's definitely not a the normal whirring of the fan set on high, but a random sound. GF noticed it too which means I'm not crazy/over-sensative to random noises in my car (basic warranty is gonna run out at the end of this month...I AM on highly alert to anythingthat might be wrong with the car that I can get fixed under warranty) Anyway, the noise only happens when the it's set to "Recirc" (and of course the A/C comes on) and Mode is set to "footwells AND upper body" or "only upper body" NOT when set to "just foot wells" or "Fresh Air." Does anyone else have this noise too? Thanks! I wonder if it's the blower motor? If so, it should be covered under the Basic Warranty(?). If not, I think it s big, expensive job....

I had a similar problem with my previous 06 G35. About a week after I replaced the cabin filter with a Fram the noise started. I spoke to the service advisor at the dealer and he told me to replace the cabin filter that I had just replaced with an OEM Nissan filter.
I did!
That solved my problem.
BTW I no longer use anything but OEM parts.

Interesting....I too just did a cabin filter replacement w/ a non-OEM filter....Hmmmm....Interesting. I even sized them both up, dimensions were identical....Hmmm...Interesting....OE cabin filters are $$$ I guess they are made from noise-free materials which cost a lot more...

Here's a quick question then, I'm sure many people here don't use OE cabin filters. So do you non-OE users get that noise as well?

i dont understand how a non OE filter could be causing that noise? if you ever look at the cabin filter lid there are "teeths" or small rails that pushes the filter up and keeps it from moving when you reinstall it.

IT's been a while since I replaced it...but yeah I faintly remembered what you are describing...Well I'm dropping off the G tomorrow at Ray Catena's in Edison and see what they have to say..hopefully I get a new Q50 as a loaner Also been searchig the board to see what other things I should check since my B2B warranty is out by the end of this month...My trunk lid is a slightly misaligned, I wonder if they will align it under warranty? Oh...I still haven't installed my Anniversary Edition lip and rear spoilers..MAYBE I can say they fell off and needs to be replaced under the B2B warranty! LOL! Fat chance!

Just got the call from the dealer....Supposedly it is the non-OE in-cabin filter that's making the noise...they said it's "too heavy" causing it to make the noise....So I guess I will either deal with the noise (yet another "rattle" in the G) OR stick paying $45 for the OE in-cabin filter.....Blah.
