From the pictures of the damage, it does not look like anything needs to be replaced. The dents can be fixed with PDR or other means and a body shop do a repaint with blending. I would guess that a body shop should be able to do this for less than $2000, unless there is significant underlying damage.

Good luck to you.

My insurance will cover it regardless because I have uninsured motorist. The one thing I was worried about was my rates going up but it seems they won't but I will have a bill of 500 bucks until the insurance can collect money then maybe I would see that cash back.

i was rear ended by a uninsured motorist (she didnt pay her insurance and the company cut her off 2 weeks before she hit me)

my insurance covered it had to pay the 500$ deductable i will get that money back when the insurance collects the money from her but that may take a while.

I took her to a small claims court for the 500$ and court fees. won the judgemnt and got my money.

The best part was that the shop replaced my ARK mufflers but in order to do that they had to order an entire Catback so they gave me the old mufflers (nothing was wrong with them just some scratches) along with the new pipes that wernt used and i sold that for another 1k$

I've been in a couple of accidents that I called the cops and no one was injured and they always showed up within 5-10 minutes. I would have not left there without an accident report like BB said. I know you said you called but did you dial 911, because that is incorrect, you need the nearest police station non-emergency number (just dial operator) tell them you were in an accident and need a police report and they will come.

Since you might have to go to court over it you will have the burden of providing evidence, which the police report would have covered. Next time take video of everything, pictures of the uhaul in your car, license plates, the lady that hit you, everything. Good luck

What state do you live in? When I was hit by an uninsured motorist I didnt have to pay a dime, which is how it should be. But that was because it was 100% their fault, rear ended.

If it was the other drivers fault and you can prove that you should not have to pay anything, nor should your rates go up.

As long as your insurance has to pay for an accident- regardless of fault or not, your rate will possibly (probably) go up This accident is counted as a collision. If you can recover ALL of the money from the at fault party so your insurance pays nothing out of their pocket, this won't go against your premium.

Even calling for a claim can possibly make your rates higher. Insurance bases their premium on a variety of factors, and having claims regardless of fault does count against you. Since you did obtain insurance information of the U-Haul truck, you should contact them directly for a claim, and do not contact your own.

I've had many non-at-fault accidents to know how the process works. I've even check my CLUE Report annually to make sure that non-at fault claims are NOT on there. Believe it or not, any claim you make on your own insurance company will be reported on a CLUE report which is what other insurance companies use when they're determining premiums for you. That's why it is almost always better to directly contact the at-fault driver's insurance company instead of your own, unless you're in dire circumstances where you cannot get the other party's insurance information or the other party will not admit liability for the accident.

If the other driver DOES have insurance but does not give you the information that's where going to the police station and file a police report with what you have. A police officer DOES NOT have to be there to file a report for you, because you can always fill out a report yourself within the statute of limitations for the city/state you reside in. As long as if you had the license plate number, the police can look up the insurance information and give it to you on the report. It is illegal in probably all states to drive off at a scene of an accident without providing insurance information and contact information. In many places, the police WILL not come to a scene of an accident unless it was major and/or someone was hurt.

An exception of risk would be things involved in comprehensive claims. Those claims, unless excessive, will not increase your premiums.

What would i do?

Step 1. Go to Dealer and high end shops and get a quote.

Step 2. Take the money your looking at the least 5k its realistically going to be around 10k.

Step 3. Go find set of passenger doors same color from a part out or junk yard and swap it out. (Its a very easy install)

Step 4. Spend 1k to fix it max and pocket the rest.

Step 5. Ask me for my paypal so you can send me money.

As far as her insurance she was lying, uhaul has verified i have insurance when i rented from them.

When I had my Maxima, it was struck by a u-haul while it was parked. Guy damaged my d/s fender and ripped off my front bumper. The guy actually purchased the additional insurance when he rented the vehicle, so everything went off without a hitch for me. Here is what happened:

1) Called 911, filed a police report. Obtained the report a couple of days later.

2) Called u-haul, initiated the claim with them.

3) Awaited a callback from their insurance company, "RepWest" - Took about 2-3 days.

4) Resubmitted all of the information to RepWest, because apparently the details of the accident were not relayed to them. RepWest then requested the following from me:
-copy of police report
-proof of registration of my vehicle
-two estimates for repair
-clear, color pictures of the accident (both vehicles)

5) Obtained the estimates, submitted everything to them via e-mail and played the waiting game.

6) In approximately 1 week, RepWest contacted me to tell me that they accepted the lower estimate, and requested my permission to settle for that amount. I did so, and they e-mailed me a form (agreement / waiver) that I printed out, signed and returned to them.

7) Waited some more for the check to arrive. This was the longest wait, took approximately 3 weeks to get to my door.

8) Deposited the check, bought a bunch of parts to repair my Maxima, at which time my maxima started to crap the bed (stalling, idle problems, etc).

9) Sold all of the parts, tied my front bumper back in place with some speaker wire, traded the maxima as-is, and got my g37. Never looked back

In your case, even though the lady did not purchase the supplemental insurance, I'd imagine the process should be somewhat similar. I would hope that u-haul has some kind of bare-bones liability coverage for all of their vehicles. I just hope that they don't try to tell you to seek damages from the lady. Without a police report, that can go bad pretty quickly.

Best of luck
