MPG & Other Options

I have a 2012 G37s with only 20k miles on it, it is babied and pristine.
Windows tinted, but thats it. No other mods, nothing. Lately MPG has been dropping quite a bit, down to the 12-15 range, really trying to get the most MPG too, no brutal acceleration etc.

In addition to that I am dreading the cost of maintenance on this car, should I start looking around for a new ride or is maintenance not too bad on this guy?

Thanks,
Ron

You may want to try cleaning the throttle bodies and mass airflow sensors. Some here have seen a little better MPG after doing so. I am no expert, but I wouldn't sweat the maintenance costs on the Infiniti line. I have had my 2010 g37x sedan for over a year which has required just routine maintenance. My last car was a 2006 m35x with over 160,000 miles and I had zero surprises or problems. Again, just oil changes, tires, brake pads... the normal maintenance that is required with any car. BTW, I am averaging around 23 MPG combined city / highway. Good luck.

Thanks for the opinion, I had a few visits to the dealer already (under warranty) but had some issues with the brakes, some issues with the nav screen not turning on, and some issues with the interior lights. [Hence all my concern].

For the record, did a test drive of the new 2015 WRX, steering is tighter, chassis is stiffer but more comfortable, MPG might be a wash... but alas the interior is not as nice as the G.

I have the same vehicle as you and get much better MPG

The worst mileage that I got was during very cold weather back in February but it was way better than what you are getting.

I change my air filters between 8 and 10k miles. Only takes 3 minutes.
If you haven't changed yours for 20k miles that could be the source of your problem

I will check my air filters, but I changed them about 5k miles ago. Which brand do you use? Looks like we used the same ones, FRAM

Also, I found the MPG computer on this car to be about 6% higher than reality. Has anyone else seen this? Maybe a re-flash is needed?

Yeah, its giving me a little bit of heartburn to say the least.
@ 93 octane its no bargain... if gas was still 2 dollars per gallon I don't think I would be having this discussion.

Well, at least now I don't feel like I'm the only one...

Side note: Key West is gorgeous!

I was only averaging 16.7 highway, after I had the dealer update the transmission & ECM I went up to a whopping 16.9..lol My next step is to do the TB's & MAF sensors. But I do drive my car at 80+ everyday so that explains the low MPG.

So I have been using Automatic (https://www.automatic.com) and thats reporting a 12MPG. The car itself is reporting 17. Both suck, lol.

That said, I have been trying to be extremely conscious a la not fun driving at all, nothing over 65, no hard braking or acceleration (nothing over 3-4k RPM).

So I am kind of baffled by said MPG I am getting.

I've averaged 14 since I got thr car, 98% city driving. I do hop on the loop on occasion, but only for 1-2 exits (2-5 miles).

I'm sure it has to do with my driving style. I almost never shift below 6500.

Big leagues right there, to be honest... driving this car like a grandma sucks. The VQ37 is designed to be spooled up, you don't get full torque until 6k anyway.
