^^ I had a KIA that had damages in the same spots (driver door and front finder). The damages weren't to the same extent that yours were and the total came to a little over $2k to replace the door shell and pop the fender out and sand, repaint, and polish. Add in the rental car and the total was about $5k.

This..

Have his insurance company fix it, but not sure if he has the coverage on his policy, it would be called non-owned. It would basically cover it if he drives a car that's not his or rented(hired)

It could also mean the friend may be trying to make a deal (my buddy can fix it in his backyard for...) or deny liability in some way. Hopefully that is not the case. Unfortunately my guess is from experience.

That's funny, I saw this thread last night and remembered it said "Friend crashed my car" and now it said Ex-friend, I thought some ill-will had transpired overnight. This will definitely be a good test of their friendship.
Good luck OP, I had a 2 door T-bone repair and it was around $8k so somewhere in the 4-5k range like previously mentioned sounds in range.

Hey thanks for the replies everybody. So its going to cost around 3k. But they say need to buy paint to paint the door? The door comes raw? Like the new door won't come with the paint on it? Is this accurate?

Edit: idk if the pics make it hard to tell, but there's no dent on the fender. Only those scratches. However, my door doesn't close all the way now. So maybe it has to do with the fender somehow. Iono. The door closes enough so that I can lock the car.

Sounds likely, they would need to blend it anyways to match the weathering on the rest of your car. It's cheaper to just send out unpainted doors rather than risking a paint job getting damaged in transit and needing to be repainted anyways.

Yep, the door comes raw w/ primer, as do most other body parts, they might also have to get new trim & seals depending on their condition.

Actually, Infiniti replacement body parts like doors are far from "raw". They are zinc dipped for corrosion resistance and then given a coat of primer. They come ready for a key, paint and clearcoat at the bodyshop. When you think about it, it wouldn't make any logistical sense to have the body parts come pre-painted, as you'd have to carry a huge inventory to color match damaged parts. Besides, a skilled painter can color-match a slightly sun faded paint job so your repaired G will match.

Has your friend or ex friend as the case may be, agreed to pay for the damage? If not, you will have to sue him and you certainly should if he refuses to pay for the damage to your car.
