Installed my Tanabe Medallion Axleback Exhaust!

Hey everyone, just got my Tanabe Medallion Axleback installed with the assistance of my good friend. It IS quiet, almost unnoticeable from inside the cabin except for a tiny bit of a deeper tone. It fits my needs just fine, and I will be adding an R2C intake sometime in the near future for a slightly louder sound at WOT. It looks fantastic on the G37 Sedan. Really gives it a lot more of an aggressive look imo. Here's just some pics I took during the installation and after. Enjoy!

If it is new - give it about 500-1000 miles for it to 'break in'. It gets a LITTLE louder...

Enjoy

I bought it used, and the guy who sold me it said he used it for like 300 miles before he took them off and switched to a louder exhaust. But yes, I'll see what it sounds like after a while

Looking good Crazy8, bet you're loving that deal!
Isn't the stock piping a restrictive joke

OP,
Wait a few more hundred miles and it will get louder.
My previous IS with Tanabe got louder after 1k miles.
I've read that changing the resonators with Magnaflow 11385, along with aftermarket exhaust like the Medallion, will give you a "mild" aggressive sound.
Will probably go with Tanabe with my G as well and if too quiet will replace the resonators.

It looks like we have twins. When I bought my car used it also had the same axle back cans. Yes they are quiet!
I just had the stillen gen 3 intakes and the FI RHFC's installed last week. It's still pretty quiet until you get up to about 4k on the tach.

Enjoy your ride!

Tanabes do burn in a little after 1K mi. They will get a little louder. The same holds true with HFCs. My exhaust has just about the perfect pitch and Db levels for my desire. They aren't obnoxious but they do say "I'm here".

OP: Great work with the photos and enjoy

Hey Bro, great to see another G taking the next step in modding. Awesome job with the install and it looks great. Can't wait to see how you feel about the sound after you get the r2c's. I'm digging mine.
