To buy...or not to buy? Advice needed

Hey all, so I found a local craigslist seller who's going to let his 1 month old Tanabe axleback be sold for $390 to me... it's for the sedan, which is what I have.

For those of you who know your Tanabe Medallions, besides the two huge major parts of the exhaust, are there any small things that I should look out for? small parts that are essential that come with the Tanabe?

Also...the biggest question of all: is $390 a REALLY good deal? I really WANT this exhaust, but I definitely don't HAVE to get it now...should I cop it now, or wait?

Thanks!

First thing to ask about is a receipt for the exhaust. Craigslist deal or not, make sure it's a legit deal.

The guy says he tossed it with the box. Do you say this for me to be sure it's not a knockoff mainly, or...so I know it's not stolen?

Cause the sedan is kind of quiet...and the Tanabe brings the sound out a little bit.

Why not?

That's actually a good recommendation. I like the sound of the TopSpeed (on youtube), but I can't seem to find it for sale on eBay for the sedan? I found it for the coupe on TopSpeed's store...help?

Actually, still getting the Tanabe's...want something slightly deeper and meaner sounding, but not like in your face. Like the Tanabe quality more too!

If it's local and you can see it prior to committing to purchase I'd go for it. $390 is a good price, especially if you don't have to pay any shipping. If it's indeed a month old it should be in pristine shape. Just look for flat & true mounting flanges and any scrapes along the bottom of the cans or exhaust tips. If it's just light abrasions no big deal. Be sure to get the bolts & gaskets w/ the set.

Never before heard the terms "deep" and "mean" used in context with the Tanabe Medallion axel-back. I think you're talking yourself into something here, OP. Top speed seems a better alternative for deep & mean on a budget.

On topic to whether or not it's a good deal... The price difference here amounts to dinner for two. Granted, that's a pretty good dinner, but still.
