first drive in snow/bad weather

So I got to take my 2012 xs for a drive for the first time in bad weather after buying it saturday and I must say it thoroughly impressed me! I drove in a combo of sleet and overnight snow this morning (about 3-4 inches total) and didn't have a single slip or hiccup. I was a little worried when I was forced to stop at a red light on a fairly steep incline, but as I eased into the gas the g went without an issue. So far the only time it has been sideways was when my cousin, who is a 350z owner and enthusiast, decided to see what it would do with the traction control off and pulling out of a parking lot. That was done Saturday before the bad weather on a dry road also.

Nice, I hear a lot of good feedback about the Infiniti AWD system in foul weather, glad it worked well for you

What kind of tires do you have? I have a 2012 X with Goodyear RSA's and they suck in the snow.

Goodyear RS-As pretty much suck in all conditions, except maybe used as a tree swing

I have potenza re960 or something on the car now, they do okay but I really think snow tires are on my list for next winter. I do love that this car does allow you to have fun, my old IS300 was so intrusive that I couldn't have any fun.

I'm not sure about the exact model, but they're Dunlop tires. They look fairly new so I'm sure the dealership i got it from probably put them on and they were in Dallas so I doubt they're all weather. I will check on the exact model tomorrow though.

I believe it's the Dunlop sport max. That is what was on my xS when I bought it.

Third snow storm down here in SE VA and I finally got my xS outside. We had 4 inches of fresh powder on top of a thin layer of sleet/ice and the G did a great job. Tires obviously help (I have new Nitto Motivo's on) but the awd system did it's job very well. I'd almost rather drive the G than the QX or Q b/c of the weight distribution of the SUVs. I always worry that they are more prone to roll overs.

I recently replaced my OEM Bridgestone tires with Michelin Pilot AS3's
They are far superior than my old tires on ice and hard packed snow covered roads.

I too find the xS pretty good in the snow with all season tires. However, I find the vehicle stability control systems to be completely annoying and always turn it off. The car with it on will not allow any sliding, and intervenes abruptly. The traction control cannot be defeated, but at least the stability can be.

My biggest problem is ground clearance with the swift springs, anything more than 2-3" of snow and I am a snowplow.

I had my first few drives in a 2013 G37S 6MT vert his winter and had quite the opposite experience. In spite of low velocity and plenty of caution, I could not keep those summer tires parallel. Snow tires or at least all seasons are in my future...

I have General Altimax Arctic winter tires on my xS.... it will drive up the side of a mountain in 10 feet of powder.

You guys think an AWD G is good in the snow on all seasons should try a winter tire lol. I get frustrated driving the loaners in snow now. When it snows, the only thing I notice is the fact that the road changed color lol.

Yeah I noticed this too. Turning onto a highway with snow on the ground causes me to slide and then the stability control kicks in and brings me to a complete stop. Almost more dangerous than sliding.

15,000 miles on the car when I bought it. The tires look good but man they are worthless in the snow. And of course we have the worst winter in 50 years.

I had Conti DWS on my FWD TL and they worked well. Not sure if I want to go with those or get a set of snows.
