Interior trim discolored?

I recently purchased 10 G37S and noticed this today. Is it my eyes or is the left trim different color v. the right one? I had 06 G35 and I had similar problem with the cigarette lighter tray where it was discolored. Any ideas?

It doesn't look discolored, it actually looks like it's the washi trim from an 07-09 . I'd guess that piece was damaged and the (non infiniti I'd guess,) dealer sourced a junkyard piece.

Either a G35 transplant, or the previous owner used a polishing compound on it and ruined the door piece. Either way, the OP is right, it doesn't match. That would drive me nuts.

If I remember correctly a member here "touched up" those trims and they looked as new when finished.

I don't think either of those pieces are the washi trim. I can see the "swirl-ish" lines that look like the newer aluminum.

There's definitely a significant color difference though. It would drive me crazy too.

As Rochester said, probably someone used a harsh chemical cleaner which discolored it. And, the interiors of these cars aren't very durable, so using improper cleaners will definitely cause harm.

Is the car still under warranty? If so, ask the dealer. In my opinion they should replace it for free. If not, it looks like you can get the part new online for about $50, but I have no idea how easy or hard it may be to install. I'd probably let the dealer handle this.

it's a piece of cake to swap that piece out (I changed all my trim to maple.)

I'm shocked it's only $50 for that piece new - I would have guessed triple that. That's a steal considering what some of the plastics cost!

Yes the car is still under factory warranty. Thank GOD for warranty. I guess I will have my service advisor know about this situation. Another question, do you guys have interior rattle problems? When driving, I hear slight rattling. Lastly, the cup holder is horrific thus can I find any remedy?

What exactly is your problem with the cup holder?

My rattles/squeeks/whines:
Steering wheel, sounds like its in the column, can only imagine the nightmare to figure out and fix
Somewhere in the sunroof mech there is an occaional rattle
plastic rattle somewhere under the hood, not the cowl rattle others complain about here
then there's the electric whine from the radio when on low/off and under throttle

the cup holder is flimsy. Can't hold medium McDonalds coffee without slushing everywhere to a point where I have to physically hold the cup when turning.

You don't know what useless is until you've seen the cupholders in the 6MT. It's not the same design. I'd even go so far as to say there was very little "design" consideration given to them at all. They're useless. Completely, utterly useless.

If you have to hold on to your McDonald's coffee while driving, then I suppose that's one positive argument for owning a car with an automatic transmission. So you've got that going for you.
