Why mod your cars
Why do you people mod your cars? I can understand it if you take your cars to a track, but most owners don't. Why do you spend thousands of dollars to lower, change the exhaust and springs, etc. when the car runs fine as it left the factory? I have never changed anything on a car, except adding fog lights to a mustang, which didn't come with them. Oh yes, I once added a sunroof to a car many years ago. That didn't work out too well, as it leaked.

I mod to spend my disposable cash so I don't have too much left over for drugs and prostitutes.
No, seriously, if you don't understand why people mod then you must be my dead grandfather's age.

OP, if you're happy w/ the car as-is then that's pretty cool, you'll have more money to spend on other things that may interest you. For most of us on the forum it's about doing things to your car to make it stand out a bit from the crowd or improve some aspects of the drive. As an example it's pretty rare that someone really likes the factory Infiniti wheels lately, the sedan wheels especially are quite bland and generic. A nice looking wheel changes the look of the G quite a bit and various smaller mods add up to a dramatic change in the appearance. I've kept plenty of my vehicles bone stock, but IMO the G is one of the vehicles that really does respond well to tasteful mods.

I do it to personalize my car. To make it look, drive, and sound like I want it to. I see a good amount of G's on the road near me and I want to stand out a little bit. It's a great car stock but it's even better when you personalize it to make it your own. Plus like others have said it turns into a hobby which most of us enjoy.

OP: As with all my hobbies. I enjoy working with my hands after using my mind to figure out problems. Sorta like puzzles in a way. Besides, My car, motorcycle, and truck can beat yours..... Why does anybody do anything, if thats the way you look at life?

OP, I enjoy making my car look the way I want. Aesthetically I have to spend a lot of time in this thing so I want to be comfortable in it. I want it to be able to drive it and be confident and enjoy doing so. I've modded every car I've ever owned in some way, whether it be a radio on my first car, to full on lowering springs and exterior and interior changes like rims, OEM spoilers, etc the last two cars. I like many others here want the car to be an outward expression of who we are as a person. I can't speak for everyone here, but I imagine the majority of them feel this way. I understand the"no modding" bug though, I felt this way with my truck I used to drive. I think it's a good question though. Enjoy your time on the forums!

Well that's another aesthetic mod I am considering, more for looks. Bulb modding maybe for increased light output is okay, or fog light mods for aesthetics. Changing the lights to purple or orange or something seems a bit over the edge, but I'm not one to judge lol.
