Test drove both Q50 and Q50s plus IS250 F-Sport and I got to tell yous, the IS is a dream. Rides so good and I felt that it drove better. Yes less power but damnnn they stepped it up.

Yea the exterior is hideous on the IS. Rather go get me a Bimmer M3 or M4...heck maybe even the new CTS-V Sport that will also rock a V6 TT Engine like the Bimmers.

Yeah that would be a different story if those headlights didn't ruin the whole front end and were't as fugly as they are

 

Just goes to show you how one man's slow, over-priced dream ride is another man's hideous piece of design fail. Either way, happy you found what works for you. And I agree with you that speed & power are secondary to good handling characteristics, no matter how ugly it is.

 

btw in case you are not aware. toyota couldn't build a proper engine if their lives depended on it. toyota engines are notorious for valve train component wear. if you are gonna drive aggressively with your new toyota engine just be ready to expect lifter noises and other premature engine wear. go with extended factory warranty for the powertrain.

 

That's funny, I went from a Lexus to a g37, the g37 has a ton of noise, stalls on startups and the transmission can't make up it's mind and hesitates a lot. I'm definitely going back to my quiet 100% reliable Lexus products after a couple of years. I just don't see this car holding up at all in the long run. I also drove the crap out of my IS and did track days and auto cross and it never once had an issue after 130k miles on the odometer and never once went in for a warranty claim, which has not been my experience with the g37.

Best of luck with your new ride, I hope you enjoy it as much or more than your G. Feel free to ignore people with negative stuff to say about your choice. Unless you chose a car to impress people on this forum, I can't see any reason you wouldn't be happy with the Lexus if that's what you like.

Well have had mine for 4 years now with zero issues. Bought it brand new in 2010 and at 60k miles it is still going strong. The Lexus is a fine car but just not a drivers car compared to the G but the Q is a whole different story.

 

thats one thing toyota does well. hide noises and keep the cabin quiet. if you've worked at dealers or repair shops you would know toyota engines do not hold up against the same type of abuse or aggressive driving honda or nissan motors can withstand.

lets be clear about noises. by noise with your g37 are you stating engine noise? or typical squeeks and rattles? with your g there is a bulletin that will take care of the trans hesitation. as for stalling that would need further diagnosis and i wouldn't be able to point you into the right direction without looking at the car.

 

LOL, yep. Defending our own, I suppose. You gotta admit, BB... comparing an IS250 to the G37 and Q50 is kind of a stretch. I've been in a few IS models, and driven a 2011 IS250, and just don't get it. Maybe the F-Sport package really makes the car stand out... with handling performance. Because that silly front end sure makes it stand out in ways that aren't at all complimentary.

That's a fair statement. A quiet cabin is often interpreted by consumers as high-quality. Right or wrong, that's the Cadillac effect. Personally, I like hearing the engine and the exhaust... but the wind and the road, not so much.

 

might as well get a camry next

like everyone said that IS250 is not a driver's car and understand why they feel insulted when you compared it to a G37.

that being said, the IS F looks good in numbers but I haven't tested it. The IS250 however, reminded me that underneath that luxury it is still a toyota...
