Would anyone know how I can go about color matching the chrome finish on the trunk?

I've gone to a body shop and they were kinda hesitant on painting the chrome piece; saying the paint wouldn't stick. Which I can understand. Wouldn't they be able to sand and prep the piece for paint?

I'm assuming that the piece is chrome dipped or plated and not one whole piece of metal.

Luke, just go to another shop. Obviously that one doesn't want the little job.

+1 to what Rochester said. I had my grille painted and except for a rock chip it's held up just fine.

Might not cost much more just to buy the color matched OEM spoiler (unless you don't like it). IMO the trunk looks better w/ the spoiler.

I'm not a big spoiler fan. I have a color matched base "spoiler"

It looks great on a black car, however looks out of place on other colors. I used to dislike the spoiler but just had to have it instead if painting the chrome piece.

L-M,
I like it. Will probably color match mine and put it back on.

Which route did you take to color match yours?

Bought it in the classifieds for $70. Someone had it color matched and never used it. Figured OB is OB

I vinyl wrapped the chrome trunk release button to finish it off.

The OEM G37 Sedan spoiler is still the best, IMO. Typically found only with the Sport Package. But if your area is anything like mine, a G37xS Sedan is rare. The G37S Sedan is even more rare. What I mean to say, is the OEM trunk-lid duckbill spoiler could very well look unique to you because of it.

Not here on the forum, but certainly in the real world.
I have to agree. Socal is full of the $299 per month Journey+Premium Sedan lease vehicles, but maybe 1 in 25 are Sport models (dealers have confirmed this ratio). On top of that, I have not seen a Sport model with the OEM spoiler for a long time. Lots of sedan owners, few sedan enthusiasts.

I'm not that sure I want a spoiler yet, but I kinda like this low-profile one

^^^
That's the one I was talking about! I like that look, regardless whether or not the chrome piece is painted. Either way, it's very appealing. IMO, it provides a design balance to the underside of the trunk face, and the way the bumper is cut into the trunk so severely.

If I didn't already have the OEM duckbill, then this is the one I would get. It's a clean design.

Does that spoiler sit flush to the trunk lid or is there a slight gap in between? Hard to tell from that picture.

There is probably a tiny gap in between. Wouldn't want it to fit too closely. I'm liking it more than the Stillen ver 1 which is too angled and doesn't go all the way across the trunk. 07-09 trunk should be the same as 10+ right?

"Soundmike" is the only person I've seen who has that spoiler. Pics on page 4 & 5 of this thread:
