You can do it, Mike. I promise. Man up, buddy.
Wow that was harsh a bit dude... what the hell am I gonna take it off for myself? I always pretty much DIY stuff but in this case for what when it inconvenient really... I drop it off and pick it up painted and installed , **** am I gonna do driving around without the grille the whole day? Besides I never removed the grille without taking the bumper off so not really sure there.

You're kidding, right? It's a car forum, not a middle-school sleepover where we hug out our first period.

Speaking of which, as my youngest approaches that day, I'm about to be the only dude in the house with no where to hide.

The horror!

Wait, one day? They're going to prep and paint two layers and a clear coat, and give it back to you same day? That's odd.

Painting takes a bit of time..... Actually, painting is quick, it's the drying period that takes time.

Actually, I just realized this wasn't the chat thread. Oops.

Just follow the How-To, and use common sense. It should take about 20 to 30 minutes the very first time you do it, because you'll be nervous about manhandling the radiator shroud, and keeping track of the bolts & clips. But you'll get over that. After you do it once, it will probably take you all of 2 minutes the next time you need to remove the grille.

You really don't want the grille back same day. Give them a few days to do the job right. No pressure on their end, and no worries about chipping the fresh paint.

BTW, what does "professionally remove the plastidip" mean? That was an odd thing.

I used 3m matte vinyl wrap on mine. $30 and about an hour of time. Pain in the a** but it looks good. I left the emblem chrome. Thinking of spraying the emblem body color. Moonlight white.

If you have some vinyl left just spray the face of the emblem and wrap the back section of the emblem black. The whole emblem white won't look as good. Here's what I'm talking about, although mine's carbon wrap

IDK, man... use better words, maybe? I can't help what I see.

Here's the larger (somewhat on-topic) point: if you've figured out how to successfully detach the grille, and it's sitting right there in your lap, then you can certainly remove that awful plastidip all on your own. You don't need to hire a licensed Plastidip Removal Specialist.

And that's another $20 saved. You're already at a $40 savings. Not too shabby.

I wrapped the back portion of the emblem and left the Mt. Fuji symbol chrome.
