Well... my G37 experience was short lived. Flash flood

I rolled the dice and bought a flood salvage G37s 
Everything I have always read or heard was from 2nd, third party was how terrible of an idea it was. I will let you guys know how this story pans out... For the record, I did all due diligence I could and so far I can find nothing wrong with the car. Power seats work (Big indicator of flood for me), all electronics work. I make sure to pull back spots that would not have been cleaned by a restorer to see if there is water residue. So far on this car I have found almost no signs of anything that makes me too worried. Looks like it was either a large puddle the guy drove through and somehow totaled it (engine sounds perfect, power is great from what I can tell), or the water never rose very high. Either way, picked up an 08 with 32k miles for under $14k shipped to my door. I am willing to lose this <$14k to see if all the negative things I have heard about flood vehicles is true. So far it is stored for winter so this summer will be interesting

No way this won't be totaled. Its flooded, considered as flooded car and the mold and everything is hazard to your health. Sorry to hear this all the best getting a replacement. Do not agree for this to be fixed.

My brother likes to rebuild cars ... he has done flooded cars before with pretty good luck ... usually older. This time he bought a 2013 Acura TSX totaled in a fresh water flood. Mechanically it's fine, just flush and refill everything ... but the interior electronics have been a nightmare. A highly computerized car and nothing at all worked. A lot of time and money into it and he's still fighting glitches.

It's a gamble with flood car and I really hope the insurance would total it. Imagine the electronics failing at highway speeds or worst the safety system failing in a crash. To me, if such a calculative company like insurance business would total it, then that means they have figured out it's not worth their trouble and headache and just cut the loss. They spend big bucks on statisticians every year to calculate out EVERYTHING and they are in the business to MAKE money not lose. They sell them for so cheap for a reason.

Well guys, good news...
Car got worse throughout the night and there was water going to the dash. Adjuster noticed all the water in the dash area and wrote it off as a total loss. He wrote off 10 more cars in the lots in my community as total loss. We have 1 week to find a car and replace it with something else.
My wife said when the adjuster started the gas, water started pouring out of the exhaust and I think the vents in the dashes?
I'm very sad because I really loved that car. (was a pleasure to drive) so we'll see what wife decides to do.
Just figured I'd update you guys!
I must also add Geico was very good, and adjuster was very professional, friendly and timely. I'm very happy with Geico so far. Might even write a 'great job' letter to commentate a good job. It's been very stressful for my wife and I. Never dealt with something like this before, and GEICO couldn't have made it easier.
now off we go finding a new car... (which is stressful as well) She wants to look at a Q50 lease as an option, or a Q70

I'll bet you this much though they'll give you back MSRP if the car was purchased regardless of what you paid. You might walk away with a couple bucks if you do it right. You didn't hear that from me though, LOL.
