Question on Trunk
Question on Trunk
Hi everyone, just a quick question that I thought of the other day. When you press the 'trunk release' button on your key fob, or the actual trunk release button on the trunk spoiler, does your trunk actually OPEN (as in lifts up the entire way to fully open position) or just unlock? Mine just unlocks and I have to open it with my hands. I thought of this after I did the same thing for my gf's A4 and her trunk actually opened all the way. Are G37's supposed to do this? Just wondering if my trunk hydraulics are weak or if this is the way it's supposed to be. 2010 x sedan. Thanks for reading.
And if the trunk is even a little bit dirty, as the face of the trunk lid always is in this car for whatever annoying aerodynamic reason, there's no way to open it without somehow leaving a smudge... Unless you very carefully lift with your fingers on the underside if the lip. It's really, really annoying.
Almost as annoying as the very poorly designed, inverse pull down handle.
Sorry. Old man rant. But we all know exactly what I'm b1tching about.

It is odd how fast the back of the car gets dirty. My wife's Honda Pilot is worse and its black.
While we are talking about the trunk, do you guys find it odd how the tail light fits into place with a visible gap between it and the rear quarter-panel of the car? Essentially, if you shine a light through that crack, you can see the backside of the tail light. Does this mean there is a drainage path for water around the light itself? If so, why? Seems like a weird design. On my 04, the lights were completely sealed. I can add a photo if you guys can't picture what I'm talking about.

I THINK I might know what you are talking about. I have thought that the tail light is not sealed properly into the trunk lid; I have consistent moisture in there after any snow or rain. Have had it replaced under warranty but still same issue SMH.
