High-way speed strange sound

All- a few weeks ago I added a new(to me) 11 G37s AT black sedan . My wife now drives the 09. Anyway, love the cars and I am loving the goodies on the sport vs the journey. This morning as I am driving on the highway, a few cars were wizzing past me, I am doing about 80 and I it seemed like i was standing still to slowly going backwards, though not abnormal at times, it was just an odd hour of the am. So I up my speed and as I am 90ish plus, I hear a sudden beep or something from the car, almost like a radar type beep, nut not quite. I turned the radio completely off, thinking maybe I misheard and then I press the pedal to pass some slower cars( not racing, just passing) and I heard it again!!!, sounded like a beep....I know it's not the governor or something like that, as I was no where near those speeds, but I never heard this before on my journey. I have new hankook- ventus with 1k on them, but otherwise..... I have no explanations for the sound. Car rides great before and after, so any ideas ??? Thanks all....

Can't say I've even been more than 20mph over the posted speed limit, but my mothers Touareg will beep/chime when you exceed the speed limit by 20mph or more. This only happens of you have the navigation package and your unit knows the posted speed limit on the road you are on.

Could be exactly this on your G or it could be something completely irrelevant to what I'm talking about haha.

I closed coursed mine the other day and was in excess of 120 and no beeps. Check the owners manual? Maybe there's a speed alert setting?

Thanks guys, I do have the nav package, so possibly the case, though i havent seen anything along those lines, but its all new to me, so a possibility;the manual didn't come with it, still waiting for them to send me one, so tried to see if any members had experienced this or similar. Also, it was about 20ish over..70 plus 20..., not something I've done too many times....

There's a PDF manual in the sedan section if you want to flip through that.

Before my trial run of the Sirus XM stuff ended I had the posted speed limits on my nav system and if I passed the posted speed limit on the nav it would flash the speed limit on the display. Never heard a beep though.

Buttons on the right side of your speedo and tach console. One of them will get you to a menu. Scroll through those and adjust the settings.
