Adjusting alarm sensor

So my alarm is set off way too easily - by the garbage truck, neighbor kid's stereo system, etc. Last night I was standing next to my car when a truck with straight pipes exhaust roared by and it set off my alarm. I found the thread on how to adjust the sensor but when I got under there today I was dismayed to see that it's already set as low as it can go! Is there another sensor somewhere other than under the glove box? Should I just have it disabled altogether? I'm quite baffled by this.
