I've been looking hard at used BMW X5 Ms. 550hp (and a Dinan chip for 3k to get you to 702hp). It looks every bit as nice as the Porsche SUVs to me.
The X5 competes with the Cayenne, not the Mecan. And yes, the X5-M is so freaking tough looking, it's almost scary. Those massive tires on a SUV are jaw-dropping.
I'm not wanting a full-size, 7-person land barge, just something personal, comfortable, sporty and practical. Which is why the Mecan S is looking more and more appealing to me the more I give it consideration.
I went to a car show today and saw this, basically a rolling speaker. It literally shook the concrete floor... totally insane. Even the windows were replaced with speakers lol.
Doesn't make sense to me either, Slarti. But we have to remember that shared automotive values don't necessaily mean shared core values. Two people could both equally appreciate the same car, without knowing that one person was a unapologetic racist, or a pathological liar, or a sexual predator, etc. Flipped, people can be as similar as possible, but aspire to wildly different automotive hobbies.
This G here... I don't like it, but it sure looks well executed.
I kind of like the satin gray wrap on the hood of a black car. That's pretty unique.

I used to work for a car audio shop in the late 90s, and our Chevy Astro demo vehicle was lowered about 6" - by speaker, amp and battery weight alone.
The malbec-black car looks as though not much mechanically was permanently altered. I bet that if he kept the oem door panels he could put it back to stock pretty easily.
I look at it like this - I think it's well executed (without actually hearing it) and I can admire the craftsmanship, engineering effort, and design effort that goes into such a thing, without wanting to do it to my own car.
TBH, if I was still interested in the show circuit I'd have a car like that in the garage too. I wouldn't drive it, but just for car shows - just like a dedicated track car is just for track days.I don't relish driving a kawasaki-racing-green car with full cage, no exhaust to speak of and no interior with helmet and HANS in rush hour traffic...
Not so bad after your first lap of VIR or Roebling.
I did this in my SCCA IT-7 a few times when my daily driver was down for maintenance. It was... different. Mostly because the used Kumho Victorracers had zero tread and any little spot of water on the road was an adventure in driving dynamics.

Im guessing you mean the roof not the hood. It looked to me like it was real satin carbon fiber. The interesting thing is they deleted the sunroof. Maybe it would break with all the bass??

I don't actually think that's malbec but I dunno. The car was repainted for sure. It had all sorts of purple and red flake in it.

Crap. I think that means I'm getting old.
It honestly did sound really good. No distortion or rattling even with it turned up so loud that it shook the entire convention center room.

Argh! Yes, the roof.
I know that the 2009 could be had without a sunroof, and I believe the 2010 refresh was the same. Making 2011 the first year every G got a sunroof.
Feel free to correct me again, tho. I'm not proud.

Well, it had the older front / headlights on it so it must be a 07-09. maybe a factory non-sunroof car then.Did pre facelift cars even come with Malbec as an option?
