6. Rear Deck.....yea...its a mess. It rattles/vibrates. Its been there since new. If I wedge some foam in around the rear stop light (which ends up putting pressure on the whole tray/lid) it cleans up the sounds nicely...however, it looks way ghetto. Need to take something apart to do it right.

These are the only two my car has (had) so I'll address how I fixed them both quite easily.

2) I pulled up the trim around the shifter (one clip removes shift ****, leather boot pulls up, and then trim snaps right out) and just put some thin foam tape about an inch fore and aft each clip where it attaches to the console. Problem solved. My car started squeaking here around turns with about 15K miles, it now has 40K and hasn't made a peep since my $3 fix.

6) This problem is better addressed from underneath the package tray by going into the trunk. It's just as effective as treating it from the top, but much more aesthetically neutral. There are like 5 clips that hold the felt panel up underneath the speakers and brake light. Once removed, you really don't have any clear sight up there, but I found that my rattle was coming from just to the left of the brake light. So I jammed an old T-shirt through one of the holes in the metal plate where all the audio stuff mounts to, and once again, not a rattle or squeak since. This fix cost me $0 and about 20 minutes.

Outside of that, I do have a sporadic noise that comes from the sunglasses holder area, but it's so infrequent and relatively quiet that I haven't bothered diagnosing the source.

Hope that helps..

Today the window cowl has started popping very loudly while going over bumps and it is driving me nuts. I'm going to attempt the DIY for it sometime very soon.

Yeah, maybe my outrage is unnecessary. However, it kills me to know that I'm making a $500 plus car payment each month and I have to pull out the lining in the trunk and stuff an old T-shirt under. If I go to the dealership, there just to look at me like I'm crazy.

I had a Maxima, and Altima, then a G 37, now this G 37. I think it might be time to MoveOn, again I feel bad about it because I'm not a troll. I just think Nissan doesn't put that much into development of the interiors. My partners Nissan Altima, a 2012, sounds terrible over bumps. The whole interior squeaks rattles creeks, it's an absolute mess.

I think no car is rattle free, but I can't imagine driving a 335i and having it sounds like this. That said, Id have to fork out another 10,000 over the price paid for my G.

My 09 is quite rattle free, but I expected it to make some noise here and there as it aged. You can't pay attention to every details on rattling noises, it will drive you crazy.

It's a give-and-take, probably most G sedan drivers are "value oriented" consumers (myself included), so although the G likely offers the best overall value in its class, some room for compromise should be present, esp when comparing to lux Euro brands.

I have no personal experience with BMW ownership, but I'd imagine fit and finish is much better (and rightfully so), however, I've been in plenty of them that had flaking interior trim, broken cup holders, loose/shakey shifters, etc. Like you said, is the $10K (even more if brand new) premium necessarily worth it, considering the BMW interiors are far from bulletproof? The answer to this is based on the individual, but very dependent on what is at the top of the priority list when car shopping

Although my G sedan uses noticeably better materials than my Altima, I'm sure Nissan's construction methods are more or less the same across the board. The interior is nice and simple, but nothing I would consider upscale. A very simple barometer for me is the way the doors close, even Acura and Lexus cars have a nice thump when closing the door, my G, just a plain ole slap shut. Not that I particularly care, but these kind of things expose the G as the more bare bones option compared to its competition.

Bmws have their issues as well. There are a few YouTube vids on the e39 m5 interior and exterior issues. My friends 2010 335xi m sport manual has one slight rattle but, has larger issues. When he is very hard on it, his cluster shield will crack. I would rather have the rattles.

What bothers me is that, proper r&d would have exposed these rattles and it would have cost Nissan next to nothing to address before production casts started to pump out the interior parts.

I must be one of the lucky ones in this department, my G has no rattles at all. I got 50k miles on it and it doesn't rattle like others have explained. I haven't put really big rims with low profile tires in mine either which probably helps. I hate a car that rattles, any of you complaining of rattling have larger than stock wheels with low profile tires?

Mine is stock suspension, sport awd (awd has thicker away bar up front). Other than the center occasionally squeezing, my rattles only come about in very very poor roads, worse than off-roading type roads and going slow.

I had the windshield cowl popping and the headliner rattling just behind the sunroof on 2010 g37s 6mt, and the dealer fixed both under warranty by cleaning the cowl and installing some felt tape between the glass and cowl. The said they placed felt blocks under the headliner and its very quiet now!!

I have a 2011 G37 6MT coupe and live in So. Cal. About a year ago I started hearing a single tick from just behind my left ear when accelerating from a stop. The sound was coming from inside the driver’s seat on the left side, about one half to two thirds of the way up. As the weather warmed up the sound eventually disappeared. Last month it got cold (for So. Cal.) and I used the seat heater. The next day the noise was back. It is very consistent and extremely annoying. The dealer does not want to open up the seat to try to find the cause of the noise. I am considering taking a rubber mallet and banging away in the general location of the noise to see if I can knock something back into place to get rid of the noise. Does anybody have a more elegant solution?

That is odd. The dealer should get it done or outsource someone who can if you are under warranty. If not, bring it to am upholster.

I have 20's and have lowered my sedan. The diameter of the tires are the same as OEM. (27.3"?) I changed my shocks after the install of my rims, tires, and suspension. I should have changed the shocks with the other mods but didn't think of it at the time. The ride is just as smooth as new.
BTW, my sedan had the stock 17" rims before the mods.

I've had a few early on in the car's life all taken care of from the dealer. Almost four years and 37k later the car is largely quiet now. That may change in the upcoming years, but c'est la vie.

My '06 TL that I came from prior to me buying this car was absolutely horrendous.

So far at 6000 miles on a 2013 I'm rattle/noise free. This is in central PA, so it's cold here.

At 13,600 miles - same status = good!

My 2010 non-sport journey has 30,000 miles on it with no rattles.
I just bought a 2014 SRX for the wife, but have no intention of trading my almost 4 year old G37. I have never had a problem with, since day one.
