2011 Journey, nav/premium

Hello. *Moderator, move my post if you must, but I am posting here because my primary reason for posting is not pricing info, negotiating tips, nor "general" used car buying/inspecting tips...

I am interested to know if there are any specific things that I should look for on a 2011 journey with premium and nav packages...

I currently have a 2005 TL, which, instead of in my garage, is now in a salvage yard... *I feel like a total idiot, but I rear-ended someone and it totaled my TL... *First accident in overe 15 years, first ever where I hit someone, luckily the only injury was to my pride... *

In 2005 when I bought my TL new, I consider a G35. *I ended up going with the TL... *However, I now have test driven a 2010 TL SH-AWD, then went down the street and drove a 2011 RWD G... *Wow... *Don't think I could go back to a TL now.

I am not new to Nissan; I had what i think was the "original" 4DSC, a 92 Maxima SE, which I loved, but sold a few years after I got my TL... *Long story behind the reason why I sold it... (wasn't for the money, as it was about 15 years old when I sold it)

Anyhow, I just sent an email to the salesman who I test drive a different one with.. I asked to bring it home overnight tomorrow. *It has just under 40k miles, it's a single owner, a lease return if I recall from the carfax report. *I just wanted to know if there are any red flag types of things I should look for that are specific to the G37, and/or this year/model.

Here are a few pics of my TL... *I went underneath the rear bumper of an RX300. *You can see the structure under the plastic bumper that is designed to distribute the load into the entire frame went right under their bumper, leaving all the force to go to the grille, hood, quarter-panels (engine was pushed back as well).

One question I also have is regarding the audio system. *From reading 2011 Infiniti G37 Sedan Specifications | Infinitihelp.com it looks like the premium package includes the upgraded audio system, however, the feature listing says 6-speaker... I only looked at it in person for about 10 minutes, as I had just test driven a non-nav and non-premium package model and had to leave for something, but as I said though, I will be bringing it home for an overnight test drive tomorrow). *I suppose I could make do with the std audio system, but that will be difficult coming from a TL, which has a DVD-Audio system (which isn't just hype, with a quality DVD-Audio disc, it's probably the best sounding factory system I have ever heard, even rivaling some of the systems I used to have when I was in college - which consisted of MB Quart mids and highs and Infinity Kappa subs - granted the TL could have used a little more bass).

So besiddes my general question of red flags to look for, and the audio system question, I guess I do have one question on price due to the new 2014 G37 price drop... Do you think Edmunds, KBB, etc. have been updated to take into taken account the recent 4-5k decrease on 2014s?

Thanks for any tips, and I apologize for the long winded post!

P.s. edit - what's with all the asterisks?

Welcome to the site. Hope you're OK after that collision, looks like it was pretty substantial
Not really any red flags to look for w/ the newer Gs. There's a few TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) that may apply to the 2011 G, I'm not sure but the transmission may have a TSB, mine is an 09 and has had a few TSBs applied. You should have a fair amount of warranty left so that should give you piece of mind. Just check it out real well and take it for an extensive test (having it overnight should give you a good feel for the car). As far as the sound system, can't comment since I have the Bose in my 09, not sure if it's still the same in 2011.

Have you considered a G w/ the Sport package, from the sound of it you like sport & performance and the Sport package gives you more than the other packages. You'll get the big calipers, sport seats, LSD rear end, aluminum pedals, sport bumper & sides, bigger wheels, etc. Might be worth expanding your search IMO.
As far as the recent MSRP effecting the used market, hard to say how fast that may occur but wouldn't hurt to mention it during your negotiations.
Good Luck & have fun w/ the search

As far as the sound system goes, I wouldn't put too much faith in the dealer's option listing on a used car. The dealer almost never has access to the car's original window sticker so the only way they have to list options is to have someone go out and look at the car and start ticking checkboxes. Typically this person a) has a bunch of new arrivals to check so won't be very interested in spending a bunch of time looking over one car and b) isn't familiar with the specific option packages for each model year. All of this basically results in feature lists that are incomplete and/or just flat out incorrect so you're best bet is just to look at the car's audio system and see which one it has.

TL/DR: look at the speaker covers, if they say Bose then it's the upgraded system/premium package, if not then it's the base system/non-premium.

Blnewt, thanks for asking, luckily I was the only one in the car, and I'm 33 155Lbs so I faired pretty well in the crash. Airbag (just steering wheel) did go off and burned my hand slightly, but not too bad. My neck muscles were sore from around the 24 to 72 hour mark, but luckily it seems to have just been sore muscles and went away. I was very lucky that neither my wife nor my 4 and 5 year old were with me! Normally my wife would have been but we drove separately that day, don't recall why! (We both work for the same company). Also, I will look into the sorts package, I will certainly look into it!

DeadlyWalrus, thanks for the info! I will take a look when I see it!

I didn't end up taking it home for a test drive tonight, something came up that I couldn't postpone...
