g37 sedan simple questions, help

hello guys, im a new member to this site, and just picked up a g37 for extremly cheap. the catch is that the car didnt come with headlights or tailights, and no FOB!

i got a new battery in and the flashers seem to work, and the D in shift gear lights up orange, but nothing else.

my question is, does anything in the car work or light without your fob on you?
like power windows, seats, cluster, radio? anything?

i have an 2012 g37x model with push start button.

im getting a key order and going to dealership monday, but i like to know now before heading up there and finding out i got a short some where..

Welcome!

Was this one of the 400,000 + vehicles flooded last year by Hurricane Sandy?

Perhaps some of your missing items are still on the beach?

Good luck

Good luck with all that....

The car must be at the dealer for the key to be programmed.

Nothing will work without a key fob so you can't really test to see if you bought a lemon. Good luck...

Thanks blade, it was a simple question, if I have to drop a new motor, or trans, or wireharness or ecu, It will be much cheaper then buying it new for 38k. I do everything my self, I have the fobs coming in the mail new, I am aware that the car needs to be towed to the dealer to get it programed, I just didnt kno if anythinh works without the fob, I have an s500 and you dont need the fob to turn lights on or move the seats.

No its a clean title.

So you are sure windows and seats wont work unless fob is with you correct?

OP, "accessories" won't work (windows, sunroof, radio, controls, etc), but pretty sure headlights, seats, horn, emerg blinkers etc should work w/o fob. They do in my car, BUT mine was bought new and I know it doesn't have any issues, such as battery or other non-obvious damage. Also, you should have no problem buying a new G sedan for well under 38K, or lightly used for around 30K...might be a better move

Oh ok thanks, my taillights do work, hazrads also, but horn doesnt.

30k is out of ny budget, I just bought another house.

I paid 5080 for the car.. Im sure I can get it running for under 10k. So that saves me 20k

Stown, does the odometer display the miles without fob, the battery in my car was shot, I put a new one in tho.

Like I said im handy, I rebuilt many engines and wired many stuff, I just never been in a newer infiniti so I dont kno what should be on or not.

^don't believe the odo works without the fob, will try to remember to notice when Im back in the car

If you have the time & resources available, I'm sure you can get away with a great deal (hope resale isn't a big thing though)

A chunk of the new vehicle price at the dealer includes a full four year warranty including parts and labor. Also the free use of a loaner vehicle.
The dealer also washes and vacuums out my car while I enjoy the free bagels, cookies and drinks.

At a current dealer labor rate of $130/hr I'm wondering how much of a savings you'll realize at the end considering how much time you'll be spending to get the vehicle running.

Also will those air bags properly deploy in case of a serious accident?

LOL, my dealer also scratches and swirls my clear coat for absolutely nothing!
I even ask them to throw in some water spots if I'm feeling a bit greedy

Telcoman, he said he does all work himself, so he probably isn't too worried about $130/hr. Of course on some things like key fobs you have no choice.

My brother loves to work on cars, too. He bought a flood-damaged 2013 Acura TSX with ~4k miles for $12K. MSRP around $32K. Thinking he would get a great daily driver for his wife, cheap. Very little observable damage, the car will end up looking like new. Mechanically seems okay with draining & flushing. But the electrical system turned out to be a total nightmare. Far, far more hours than he had ever imagined. And he is still chasing ghosts in the systems.

I'm guessing he will be into it ~$20K when he is done. More than he was bargaining for, but he still comes out okay money-wise since he doesn't care on resale. But I don't think he would do this again. Not on a modern luxury car with everything motorized, heated and computerized like the TSX (or the G37). He would tell you that it's just not worth it.

Glad you're happy w/ the job they do, having a black G might be the difference, last time (about 3 years ago) it was a mess, so I just request no wash, win-win for everybody

I own a car lot, so I dont need a loaner, im not going to resale in America, im driving the car for a year or so then take it over seas.

Cars arent rocket science, engine and trannys are simple, and wiring is to, I can buy a new wiring harness for the car interior for 1500.

Idc about warranty most dealers bull****. I dont trust anyone but me to fix my cars.

Thanks for answering my questions guys.

I dont care for airbags if they work or not, I drove many cars from 1980s to 2012s, and newer cars stop much better then old cars.

The only thing the dealer is going to be doing is the fob programming because theres no way I can do it :/

Thd only concern I have,is all thess new cars on road are built weaker and cheap, the carpet on this g37 is like paper compared to my 2001 mercedes.

I do wish I get frew details, I hate detailing cars.. lol
