Returned the '10 today.

The Silver Stallion ('10 Journey on Sport 18's) had to be returned today, as the 3 year lease was up. I'm going to miss her to say the least.
I took a picture of the VIN... Anyone know how I can check up on her periodically? Is that legal?

google works nicely for tracking cars. Interesting to see if your new one has been at any other dealers before you bought it.

Thanks. I'll just have to pay for the Carfax on the car whenever I decide I wanna check up on it. Unlimited reports are like $55.

I learned a very long time back that I don't want to know what happens with my old cars. Most of the time you wont be happy about it. I learned you just have to let them go.

I know at least 2 vehicles that I babied and kept perfect through their life with me were wrecked with 5k of damage, one totaled within 3 months of selling them. The totaled one was a 1997 Nissan Maxima SE that was in showroom condition (not exaggerating here) with 167k on it.

Sometimes you don't want to know. I only knew about these as they were in my own town.

^little weird lol but I don't blame you.

OP, since the G is sort of an outgoing model, did the dealer try to lower residual value to get you to buy the car (assuming you were interested)?

What are you moving on to?

The guy a bought my last car to end up being a whiney jerk (he was uneducated about buying cars, so he kept bossing me around to get paperwork that he already had, could get himself, etc.). Although I loved/miss my old car, hope the guy gets the famed VQ timing chain rattle

I actually found the owner of my first 05 on G35driver. And then spotted the car about a month later at Cars and Coffee. My 08 G35S I traded in at the dealer and a buddy's (local G Guy) friend bought it haha. So now I can keep tabs. My 05 is well into 100k mile range running like a top, and my 08 had the tire blown out and the rim bent about a month ago... -_-

Yup, my 2010 is going back Saturday, only 28K miles on it and not one door ding or visible scratch. Only a couple small rock chips, great shape for next owner after they pay the the dealer markup on the residual.

I might try the Google VIN search, just to see where it's heading...

lol I was with the kid that bought my 350z, but no longer. I didn't want to run the risk of offering to buy it back from him.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, been hella busy!

Anyhow - No, they didn't lower the value. It actually wasn't my car, it was my dad's. I was just attached to it because I grew up over the past three years in it, learned to drive in it, and drove it often.

He moved on to a '13 Coupe, which is wonderful as well

I think not. A car becomes one of your best friends, so I don't see anything wrong with checking up on an old friend.

Damn. Honestly, I would rather know. Whether it's good or bad, I still want to know her fate.
