I took my G in for service the other day. There was a Q in the showroom that was labeled "california edition". it was wrapped in a weird blue matte color, with the cheesy "california edition" etched in the bumper. It had some 20in wheels and tints. It was a Q50 premium. No sport. MSRP was around $42k. The "california edition" (wrap, wheels, tints) was $9900. There was a dealer markup of $7500. Total asking price was $59k. I almost spit out the free cookie I got from the service waiting room. I'll try and get a pic when I go back to pick up my car.

they really list dealer markup? Is that a California regulation or something?

I get a free scratch & swirl wash, but I'd rather have a cookie or stale coffee

I'm sure it'll still be in the showroom, so I'll def try and get a pic when I pick up my car this week.

It's a dealer discretion. I remember when the BRZ first came out, the Subaru dealership I went to was adding a $3500 markup.

You don't? The service dept. here has cookies, croissant, bottled water, coffee, and fruit (apples and bananas were the choice this time).

Might as well have it serviced at Nissan. We get coffee or water and that's it. No pastries, no cafe, where's my "luxury" first world problems type of service?

Personally I don't care what the rags say about the Q. The SBW is impressive as it can keep the car centered between line markings. I'm really interested in the hybrid...we'll see next year.

Hybrids are boring to drive. I rather have a turbo diesel.

SBW is impressive tech, sure. Love it or hate it, it's still impressive tech.

But keeping the car between the lines? Is that really a problem for anyone who isn't so careless as to text while driving?

I wonder if this would also encourage confidence in people who have been drinking quite a bit...

The Q50 starts at $37,500 up here in Canada. $36,700 in the USA. Not bad, really.

I'm on my second G and, sadly, I seriously doubt there will be a third.

Still loving my current G, though.

2016-17 I may be ready for another car. Looks like the new gen IS-F may be in the future or something German.

So either the story about Sebastian Vettel being the Director of Performance and helped develop this car is complete bullcrap, or that the guys at Road & Track don't know how to properly drive a performance car like a F1 champ.

Which is it?
