Do people really think that Infiniti is backing off their Q/QX naming? I can't imagine they didn't conduct the necessary focus groups before making that monumental decision. I'm not in business, but this strikes me as a "let's sell some more G's while we can" thing. Nothing more/nothing less.

Count me as one of the people who think abandoning the "G" nameplate is more damaging to the brand than whatever they hope to achieve with this new homogeneous model naming scheme. But I'm just a consumer, not a market analyst.
Both the Catera and Saturn L are true sleepers. I owned an L300 and that car was pulling 7 second 0-60s back when most cars when in the 9s. The Opel Australian power plant and drivetrain were very European, along with the interior build quality. These cars are excellent inexpensive used car values today if you can find one with under 100k miles. Saturn was another marketing fiasco. GM killed the wrong company in that deal. They should have kept Saturn around as their entry level/value youth oriented brand (i.e. Scion). Instead, they now peddle low end garbage with Chevy badges and expect 20 year olds to spend their hard earned dollars on that crap. It breaks my heart as a former 70s motorhead to see the damage GM has done to their brand.

Ok, back on topic.

Not backing out, but 'complementing', which is what they should have done originally vs. throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Not being a wise guy, but can you really go with both systems? I'm one (with the majority) who was thinking WTF when Infiniti came out with the Q/QX deal. But if you're going that way, GO THAT WAY and don't half *** it.

Love my G. Not planning on getting a Q.

In fact, and you may want to sit down for a second... I'm seriously thinking about getting a truck again. I miss having a truck.

Yeah, I know, weeks ago I was talking about an ISF. Then I thought 'how in the hell am I gonna get back to the sweet spots at the lake in an ISF?'

What about a Rubicon? I have contemplated jumping ship a few times as well.

Had a deal on '13 Rubi right before I got the G. Always wanted a Jeep- top off, drive on the beach, rugged, etc. I just couldn't do it. Even with the "new" Pentastar engine, the Jeep is slow and handles poorly. My buddy brought his '12 Sahara down to the beach house and there is a ton be said for cruising around with the doors off and driving on the beach, but it's a totally different vehicle than a G or IS. I've resigned myself that I will get a Jeep at some point, but not right now. I need to cull the garage right now before I get one.

I agree that the Jeep leaves alot to be desired in performance arena. I think it's a car I'd grow tired of after a year or so.

I think that they are testing the waters with the Q50 and I hope they make some changes. That car only is a step up in the interior department not exterior IMO. Plus they should have came with more power because a 328i is comparable in performance now.

LOL- I almost got one back in '09 back when it was even slower with an old minivan engine in it. I took my wife to go see it and as we're driving home talking about it, she gave me the wife look and said, "You do what you want, but I can't see you making your commute (abt 60 miles/day at the time) in that often". Didn't get it then b/c she was right.

The Q was never going anywhere as soon as they decided to slap the same G37 engine in it. If they had came out with a new, more gas efficient, and slightly more powerful engine, it would have been a different ballgame. Especially if they also offered an IPL version of it that had a twin turbo setup with about 450-500 horses, a true performance line in other words, Infiniti could have took the world by storm.

Instead, Mehh! This **** ...... could care less and will most likely not return to Infiniti when my lease is up.
