Q50 Review
meh...i have yet to hit the mpg claims of the G. i wouldn't be so happy about the Q's yet.
I had a VW with DSG. Stock, it shifts slower than our 7AT, and is just horrible in traffic. Absolutely the worst transmission I've ever had. And don't say this is a 'preference' - this is just a fact that DSG transmission sucks in stop/go traffic, especially moving 5-20mph increments.
I think Q50 should be interesting to test drive, although the interior is clearly worse than the new IS. In my opinion, of course.

Just what I felt. I've never driven an Audi with DSG - maybe it's tuned very differently. My VW DSG experience was horrible.
I saw it in person and I'm sorry, that is not that great looking of a car. The back looks like a Hyundai and will my 6mt sport sedan clutch could be a little better. I love the car and I think it looks better personally. Then looking from the rear the 225's look like bicycle tires. This car was not well thought out. I imagine they will put a new motor out next year because this car should be running mid 4 sec. 0-60. A 328i should not be its competitor. The S4 and 335I are.
Not sure how you think the 7at is jerky compared to a DSG. I feel the exact opposite. I made it barely over 1 month on my VW CC DSG before getting rid of the car, mainly because of the very laggy and jerky DSG. Had it looked at by 3 dealerships and test drove other DSG vehicles - all felt similar. GTI exhibited these problems to a lesser extent, but they were still there. It feels like a handicapped manual with an inexperienced driver.

Saw these 2 at the dealership yesterday. They tried to make it look better with 20 in aftermarket wheels, but it's still just ok. Still looks overstyled with too much chrome. Interior is nice, but honestly, it's not THAT world of a difference.

I just test drove a non-hybrid. I don't cant remember if it was the sport or not. This is MY review.
First the styling. I looks much better in person and in certain colors. They need to offer 18s as standard because the 17 inchers look really small and don't fill up wheel well at all. At all. Spacers are a must if you run the 17s. The 19s look much better and are pretty much required for the car to look attractive (subjective). The front grille could be smaller (would look right at home on ... the QX56). The front overhang ruins the side profile a bit. The front lights look badass; the rears already look dated for some reason.
The interior is definitely a step up from the G. Much better quality and better plastics. Reminded me of the M37 I was sitting in while I as waiting to drive the Q.
Now the drive. I started off with everything in the sportiest setting. The car sounds way more refined. You can tell it is the same engine/transmission combo though. The engine is quite hushed now and the 7AT felt smoother but it felt "familiar" at the same time. The suspension soaked up the bumps better, even with the 19s, which was a pleasant surprise. No suspension crashing whatsoever. And then there is the steering. Too each their own but there is no way I would buy this car with this super artificial steering system. It is probably F1 quick. You think and you're in the other lane. I like quick steering but it was quite excessive. I pulled over and put the steering setting in the lightest, least sportiest settings and that's how I drove the rest of the time. The steering adjusts for lightness and speed. The problem is you cant have the slowest setting with the heavier settings. I wanted weight without the lightening quick response. I hope this steering system was part of an option because that would be a deal breaker for me. Apart from that, the car feels very well planted. It definitely feels like a premium sedan now. Its supposed to be lighter but I couldn't tell.
I walked away disappointed with the car in the same way I was disappointed with the latest 3 series. You can clearly see the main focus of these cars. I guess the time has come that you need to buy a sports car and a family sedan separately.
