Driving car with low gas?
Yesterday I was driving around in an unfamiliar area, and realized I was low on gas. The light came on, and I immediately looked for a gas station. I originally seeked out a Mobil since I have the "Speed Pass" but all pumps were out of order. I then just searched on my phone for the next gas station, it was about 2.5-3 miles away. It took me about 10-15 minutes to get there as there was heavy traffic as it was rush hour. I believe by the time I filled up it was "Range: 20 miles" and blinking. I filled up the tank full and it was about 17+ gallons for a total of $71 bucks
I was reading that this could cause damage to fuel injectors, as they use the fuel to keep cool? I wasn't flooring it or anything with the low gas, but was driving normal. The car did feel a little different, although it could have been in my head...
Thanks guys!

It's in your head. No harm came to your car from being a little low on gas. If you got to where you were going, fuel was still flowing through your system. I have run completely out. More than once. No problem.
Yes, the G has a 20 gallon tank. There is a reserve even when it reads completely empty. About 2.5 gallons or so.

im curious as to when the reserve tank actually kicks in
last week i drove until the range said " --- " plus a few miles and it ran normal...no sputtering.
im not too sure about whether you can ruin ur injectors. i heard that sometimes there are sediments sitting in the bottom of your tank...but i cant validate it

How much sun is too much sun?
Which hand do you use to open the car door?
Did I hurt the car when I farted? It was pretty bad.
And so on and so forth. Go look at the OP's thread history. Seriously, go take a look.
I'm no psychiatrist, nor a betting man... but I'd wager that's where 99% of your problems reside, Brad.

I suspect the fuel pump (not the fuel injectors) is cooled somewhat by the gasoline. Part of the reason for the large reserve is to perhaps preserve the fuel pump. Just a guess. If you're worried, just fill up at quarter tank....or buy a 100,000 mile warranty and never worry about it. Life is too short to worry about a bunch of small stuff. I regularly ran my 2010 very low before filling...and never had a problem. Will continue to do the same on my 2013.
